Court of public opinion looms large in George Zimmerman murder trial

You can know from the forensics of the shooting.

like I said - legal complication. a legal headache.

yes. like I said - it would be icky situation for you regardless of who called first.... as well as if he called cop on you.

If it's already an icky situation and someone is going to call anyway then you should certainly be first.

"Ayoob: I’d call 9-1-1 immediately. We’ve seen case after case where the bad guy didn’t go with the armed citizen’s fantasy script to run off wetting his pants. Instead, he left the scene, called in, made up a story where you were the one that attacked him, and HE got to be the complainant. The criminal justice system is geared on the assumption that whoever made the original complaint is the victim and whomever they are complaining about is the suspect, the person of interest, and the perpetrator."

you never know. it would be a legal nightmare for you. would be a great idea to install a dashcam.

for example - road rage (let's assume there is no witness around). an angry guy angrily approached you with a crowbar/bat and you took your gun out but you didn't shoot. he went :eek3: and ran away. so it doesn't matter if you or he called a cop first. it's just very icky because he can claim that you took your gun out in anger and he was scared shitless.
In that scenario, if he wasn't shot, why would the guy with the crowbar even call the police?

because you threaten him with a gun in anger. you never know if he may have a crowbar with him or not when a police checks his vehicle.

There have been a few cases where they do call the police. Probably because they are so pissed. They call up and of coarse their story is "I was just minding my own business whey this crazy guy with a gun tried to kill me!"

it's very easy to assert "Road Rage"

when there is a gun involved in a case of road rage.... major legal headache. you'll have to remain silence and retain a lawyer (strongly advisable).

I was involved in road rage last Feb and the firearm was involved.

It was very scary for sure.

of course he had to leave the scene cuz you were the one with a gun. he fled and called 911 on you.

I'm talking about you leaving the scene. The only reason I can see that you wouldn't want to call the police is if you where just going to leave. That is generally viewed as an admitting guilt. So when the police track you down later it's going to get really complicated.

Yes, the driver had gun that lead me to flee away from scene and dialed 911.

I went to police station to file the report.

You can remain silent and be the first to call the police. Just tell them you have been a victim of an attack and you need assistance.

yes.

and even if you call 911 on him first... it's still a legal complication for you. that's why I have a top gun lawyer handy on my speed dial.

That only helps if you actually had to fire though.
Got it.

I would need more details about the whole scenario.

If I were out for a walk in my neighborhood and someone out of the blue started pointing a gun at me then yes, I would run to a safe place and report that to the police. If the police found the guy with the gun, then he would be in trouble. If he hadn't pointed the gun at me, I wouldn't have known he was carrying a concealed weapon.

I didn't say being first is going to make it all go away. And your second call should be to your lawyer.
