harbor frieght tools that don't suck

Garage sales ...

First....I don't know of any banks that will loan $100 against a tool. But I love to see a bank try to charge 10% interest on a one week loan.

It's amazing to me people bitch about bankers yet look the other way when pawn shop thugs take advantage of the poor.

Not a one-week loan. It was a one-month loan, technically speaking. Loan offices charge high interest on their small loans as well. Are they thugs?

If they are charging 120%-360% APR.....yes.

TX limit is 240%

Yes, I had bought few good quality of tools and things but I won't buy cheap tool machines.

i go for the free flashlights

same here. I got a pile of free flashlights, gloves, clamp, mulimeter, screwdriver all from free coupons. :D

I agree with the pittsburgh stuff- it seems to be of a good quality- its so cheap and works well that I finally have enough wrenches that it makes my job easier. I even bought the 2 ft long crescent wrench. I use it for my outside pipe jobs, trailer balls swaps, etc.

Does anyone here go shopping in this store and get stuff from them? I am looking for stuff from that store that is worth the time and money to buy. There are some things I am afriad to buy due cheap crap. However, there were a few things I got there that really was worth the money and I can't seem to figure out how they can sell it that cheap for the materail costs alone. The tire changer is one of them. I love the tire changer, and when its on sale with 20% discount coupon, I don't see how they can make a profit on it. Oh well- At least I got stuff that is useful.

What have you guys/gals bought that you liked from harbor frieght?

I recently bought a motorcycle lift. I compared the price with 7 other companies. It works well and seems very sturdy.

Also bought a easy-out bolt remover kit. The easy outs were ok but the drill bits were cheap and broke.

A few years ago I bought a framing nailer. It was foreign made. It worked ok but could only use 1 size nails. Later, I bought an almost new Porter Cable nailer with case from a pawn shop at a lower price. It uses many size and types of nails.

Harbor Freight has a company who makes most of their stuff for them and many of the items are re-manufactured.

I only go there when I find a coupon.

I have no problem with shopping in pawn shops.

First, I only go to pawn shops with good reputations.

Second, I do my research and price comparisons before going.

Third, the pawn shops provide services for the buyers and sellers. Yes, it's sad that people have to sell their stuff but if they didn't have an outlet for their stuff when they need quick cash, what would be their alternative? No one forces them to do it, and the dealer and seller come to agreement on the deal.

Also, we've bought NEW guns from pawn shops for lower prices. They are good brand names, with full warranties. They are not pawned items.

I love harbor freight and they are pretty cheap BUT you must check Customer Rating from internet before you buy them. HF is around 30min away from home.

Like that.

Go down a page till you see Customer Reviews and they looks good then I will buy it.

Few of my coworkers who Master ASE and they have no problem with their tools/Diagnostics from HF.

I had no idea how hell they made a profit for that. Maybe overstock?

Are you sure those items were not stolen? I used to have this class in agriculture, this teacher's tools were stole from his back of truck and one of his student bought those stuffs at swap meet. Of course he gave those tools back to his teacher.

that would be illegal. the store would be charged with buying a stolen property.

but then... DA has to show that the pawn shop knowingly bought stolen property :dunno:

I don't believe swap meets are regulated the way pawn shops are.

I buy all of my tools from harbor freight. I have a nice collection of precision tools. I bought a log splitter for firewood, axe, sawzall, deer hoist, flashlights, cordless drill, and several other stuff for my garden.

I used to work for years as a construction contractor and know crap when I see it. I also know a good deal, and harbor frieght is a good deal.

edit to add: For carpentry tools get DeWalt.

I buy pretty much all my tools from HF. The only stuff I don't buy there are screwdriver drill bits cause they don't hold up and tend to twist real quick. For that I buy DeWalt at Lowes.

Also I agree with the Pittsburgh sockets being good. I have had the same set for years and never had a problem with them. I don't know how they will hold up with daily use but I use them about once a week.

I got a sawzall from harbor freight for $20. I have been using it all day today to cut logs for firewood.

here is another review on the same one I bought. (btw sawzalls are great nifty tools - I like using it better than a chainsaw).
