You can get fined for wearing a hoodie in Oklahoma

That's awful. I wear them in varying weights about nine months of the year.

Then you probably shouldn't wear a hoodie in Oklahoma. In my State, it is illegal for a donkey to take a bath.

No way, the hoodie is part of bodybuilder's culture.

I will defy this unconstitutional law, anyway.

A lot of stores and banks around here have put up signs that say "no hoods, helmets or sunglasses please" I always chuckle thinking it's about as effective as the no guns signs. "Oh no! I can't rob this place because they have a sign!" Why not just put up a no roberies please sign?

The banks in my city has that sign too , you have to take off your hat and sunglasses , but is say nothing about bringing gun in the bank. :giggle:

I read and reread the article....still not sure. This sentence here...

But the new proposal would also ban an individual from intentionally concealing "his or her identity in a public place by means of a robe, mask, or other disguise" even if he or she were not involved in a crime.

key word here is intentionally, so if a person is wearing a hoodie but it is not covering up their heads, would they still get fined?

I think it mean they'll still get fined ??

If I am wearing a hoodie but I am not intentionally hiding my identity, then no, I shouldn't get fined according to the wording of this proposal.

That's my interpretation.

This is a novel approach. Why address the underlying problem when you can make money collecting fines.

This is ridiculous. What else are they going to do? It's my word (no I'm not hiding) versus someone else.

On the outset (onset ...) I understand it AND people have worn hoodies for years. But the states keep stripping us of individual rights. What a country... They might as well arrest me for wearing a helmet - can't really see me.

I remember reading about one store that said it was a gun free zone and no guns were allowed. Well, a few days after the sign went up, they got robbed, so no law abiding customer that happened to carry was around to help and I guess the criminals were unwilling to wait for the police to show up.....

I think this is more to do with entering a building. When you're in a bank, they ask you to remove sunglasses or anything that obstructs your face. Generally when someone is about to rob or do harm, they put a cover over their head. I can't see how anyone would enforce this if we're talking about being outside in cold weather.

What about people visiting Oklahoma they most likely are not going to know they can't wear a hoodie in public. Are there going to be signs up saying
There 'A $500' fine for wearing a Hoodie in public '? I had a friend in Oklahoma , I sure wish he was alive so I could hear what he think of this law.

Here in Ottawa (Canada) there are signs up like that in the poorer neighborhoods on some banks and the pharmacy. Honestly if it's windy outside I have to wear a hood otherwise all my aids will pick up is wind. That's a crazy law.

After Sandy Hook tragedy in NY, they pushed a gun law that banned gun mags of more than 7 rounds - effectively making law abiding citizens and all law enforcement officers, criminals. When they realized what they did, they changed the laws again trying to amend it. It's so crazy now that if you're law enforcement or a civilian from out of state planning on driving through NY, you're encouraged to "consult a lawyer."

That happen in Connecticut , do you mean after the tragedy at Sandy Hook , NY pushed for law to ban gun mags of more than 7 rounds ?

Yes, when this happened, the gun laws in NY got tighter in response to the tragedy in CT. I think they pushed it through so fast, that it actually prohibited movie studios using prop guns, so they revised them yet again. NY and NJ are about the two craziest states for gun laws, but NY is ever changing.

Makes sense....anyhow, went thru the drive-thru at my Bank wearing sunglasses....my doggie kept giving me "weird looks"...:giggle:...so actually, she was hearing the teller asking me to "please remove ur sunglasses"...(more than once, I'm guessing)....and I just sat there like a bump on a log...(not hearing her)...finally the bin came back down with a note...."Please remove ur sunglasses".....so I took off my sunglasses and smiled!...Got my $$....

I'm not sure how often it would be enforced at a bank. If the teller knows you as a regular customer, it might not be a big deal but if they don't know you, they're within their rights to ask you to remove your hat and/or glasses to see your face. I will say that this rule, as far as banks and pharmacies goes, is one of the rare times the laws makes sense given the danger they often risk on the job.
