OK, thanks. In this case, the $199 WisDom Wireless Security System Starter Kit has all the basics I need as it's similar to X10 Protector Plus (excludes remote control and lamp modules, which (for lamp modules) is no big deal considering I use Insteon); however, it seems the WisDom is more advanced and it allows me to select whether the security system will be used for monitoring by central station or not, but since I want to monitor it by myself, I can disable that.

The reason why I chose X10 Protector Plus in the first place is because I've done a search for '"security system" apartment' and I went into the website as quoted above (about security system for apartments) when it first displayed in the search result. But long before I do a search, I went into SmartHome's website and I saw a couple of wireless security systems available, such as WisDom Wireless Security System Starter Kit. I looked at those and I thought "hmm...maybe it can be used for apartments without wall-mounting the security panel" and I looked at the price. The second thought that I have is "I don't want the alarms to be reported to a central station, so I think those security systems may not be an option for me," so then I performed a search for X10 Protector Plus (like I mentioned above). During the time of writing, I've realized that I need to look deep inside the user manuals--mainly the Programming Manual (PDF) for WisDom Wireless Security System Starter Kit and I found all the information I need before I make a purchasing decision.

I think overall--it's well worth the price and quality, so I'll scratch the X10 Protector Plus off my list. As for price comparison, the door/window sensor costs more than X10's, but Rokonet Risco Group (the makers of WisDom security system) has more security (non-camera-related) products than X10's.

Thanks for your help.
