I see that you are bitter. I wonder why, when you have "a successful daughter". Why pick on us? Why come here 20+ years after she's had a CI?
I work full-time. I work for a non-profit organization that doesn't provide for medical insurance, so I'm self-health-insured. That's quite expensive. I don't complain about the federal and state taxes I must pay, the health insurance I must pay, the property taxes I have to pay to the school district despite the fact that I don't have children (and the increased taxes to pay for interpreters, and so forth.) You are not exceptional, deaf or not, AND NEITHER AM I, deaf or not. Get off your high horse.
