Possibility of face transplants raises moral, ethical when a person who is dying and waiting for someone who dies to get his/her transplants of organs of heart, liver, eye, such as kidney and intestine.

I remember, my old Deaf science teacher, he would donate his ears to the Unverisity to study inner the ears to find out why Deaf does not cure. It was 1970's, he mentioned this during the science class. He died of lung cancer in 1970's. He was awesome teacher !!

Anyway, I saw the bumber stick on the car. Please do not bury your organs ! It makes me feel guilty because I did not put anything stick on my driver license for donation my organs when I will die.

This is very touchy story !

awww cute baby! She deserve to be alive. I´m glad that someone donate her a liver to keep her alive.

Yes, I´m agree that it´s waste to bury my organ!!!!! I rather to donate my organ to help people to keep their alive and happy.

yes i would donate my organs -- im on the donor list in event of my death (its on my drivers license) my organs can be taken for donation if theyre still good :D my bio-family are aware of this -- ive not told my chosen family yet so they would also be aware -- those in my chosen family would know when they read this post

i DO think more ppl should consider donating their organs to allow others to have a good healthier lives -- this particularly true for the children who are in need of organ transplants -- i have reservations regarding donation to adults who are chronic alcoholics or drug users, if they get the organ they would just pick up where they left off and abuse the new organ they were given IMHO

there is another way to donate while still living and i think it is also a good thing to do which i would do if i ever knew someone who needed an organ that i am able to donate if compatiable, i would too -- going thru a surgery for donation is a good feeling to have and i would endure another surgery :thumb:

I haven't thought of donating my organs but I would look more into it...

I wouldn't mind saving a life of an another....

I am considering organ donation as well. I've not taken steps in this direction, however. I have health issues that might make organ donation questionable for me, so I have to really think about this before I do it.

Some possibilties for transplant, though would be my corneas, bone marrow, liver, pancreas and skin. Perhaps, muscle tissue and bone. Not sure about my heart or lungs due to health considerations.

I did.

It is on my driver's license... I said yes to be an organ donor.

It doesn't make sense to be buried with all of the organs that I don't
need anymore.

Not like I will wake up from the dead and re use my organs just in case.

So I am giving away my organs... for anyone who need organ.

At least I am trying to save the world...

drivers licence notification

Make sure you also notify your next of kin that you want to be a donor. Oftentimes, medical personell (sp) will ask the next of kin what the person wants. It's very important that your loved ones know of your decision to be an organ donor. Sometimes, just putting the notification on the driver's licence isn't enough!

Why not put it in a WILL or somewhere on paper?

Will wont work - will is not opened until MUCH later.

Organs must be used IMMEDIATELY so it is important to inform closest kin so that the kin will request for organ donations immediately upon time of death.

I will donate as long as my family does not pay the bills.

Its not possible to do this. Organ donation needs to be carried out right away. Otherwise, the organ cells will die, and the organs that are harvested will no longer be viable. Also, there is a process that has to happen before the organs can be harvested. The person has to be declared brain dead first, and that is a complicated procedure. Also, the machines that are used to provide the circulation to the body (ventilator, ect) will sometimes cause damage in and of itself.

Don't feel guilty. It is not too late. You can still get the sticker and fill out the form for organ donation.

I have "organ donor" on my license.

p.s.
Don't forget blood donation is important too.

No need to worry. Just sign up for organ donation and let the doctors make the decision when the time comes. They will evaluate your body's condition when you die.

A regular will is too late. It is not read until AFTER a person is dead. A "living" will is different; that might be OK, if it is accessable at the time.

No, organ donor families do NOT pay for the procedure.
