Today is World AIDS Day. here is the link.

i got the e mail abt that, and tonight my family and i are going to put a candle up for those we lose and those who are stricken with Aids and will wear a red ribbon today in thier honor.....

I know I might get jumped on for saying this, but I think that AIDS and HIV positive people should be instutionalizied, or somehow isolated so they
can't spread it around. Maybe then we could stop it dead in its tracks.HIV is completely 100% preventable!!!!! It has cost the world billions upon billions of dollars. If we somehow isolated the cases, then maybe we could save more and more money, and save lives too!!!!!!
I don't think that AIDS victims and poz people should be stigmatized, but on the other hand I've read of so many cases where HIV could be prevented....I mean there is a subset of gay men who go around and have unsafe sex with poz people in hopes of catching the virus. I know of people who have knowingly had unsafe sex when they knew they were poz. Remember the book "And the Band Played on?" I remember too reading an article about poz women who wanted to get pregnant!!!!!! Yes, I know the baby-mother risk is low but for crying out loud, what if the baby gets HIV despite the mother taking AZT? What if the mother wants to breastfeed?

I may be wrong but Aids/Hiv wat ever it is, is more likely to get them if u are gay! coz i read the research and peoples get aids because of homosexual thing!

If i am wrong pls do explain to me as i dont have enough knowledge abt this!

It's not just the homosexual part. It's passed through many ways. If one person had AIDS and bashed head with another person by accident in a football game. Now, both people have cut heads and the blood can get mixed... causing AIDS to be transmitted. There's also safe sex. If a person doesn't use a condom, the he/she is most likely to get transmitted with AIDS. I go through this AIDS/HIV/STDs workshop all the time here at RIT.

A fraternity here at RIT, Sigma Nu, recently had AIDS Awareness Week during the first week of November. On Monday, they held a candlelight vigil for a former member who died of AIDS. On Tuesday, they hosted a Miss Sigma Nu Pageant... where many of the members dressed up like women. The donations for this event were donated to AIDS research. Wednesday was Chalk Day... where members wrote all over campus in chalk promoting safe sex and AIDS awareness. Thursday was the AIDS/HIV/STDs workshop. Finally, the week ended on Friday with their annual Safe Sex Bash.

Thanks for information buddy!

Interesting though!

Waz, a lot of people think that gay male = higher risk of AIDS, but that's not nessarily the case. There is a subset of gay males who are at higher risk for AIDS, but that's b/c they are promesticus party-hearty types (in other words the type of guys who buy into the whole sex as recreation type and who also use drugs that require needles) However, hetrosexual males or females who parcipatate in the same behavoirs are equally at risk!
