Woman seriously hurt by shard from broken bat

I saw on the news that she was not a season ticket holder , , I think this was her first time at a game, :( I hope she'll be OK

I wonder if this is the first time that the baseball bat had broken, even if it did not hit someone in the crowds in the past (years ago)?

This is terrible of what happen to the woman being hit by the baseball bat. No matter where you are either out in public or at home, accidents does happen without warning.

She is unlucky person. That is unfortunate to let that happen without warning.

I hope she will recover from her injuries. I hope she will get well soon. :(

Not sure if you mean that particular bat or bats in general but many bats do get broken/shattered on a fairly regular basis but I don't think there has been many incidents like this one (that I am aware of) where pieces of the bat go flying into the stands (at least at a major league game- can't say for minor league and below).

Hope the lady is okay.

(and I wonder how many more times I can say bats before it looks weird...)

Going to a baseball game can be a dangerous place to go and have a good time, especially if your sitting close to the field: you have foul balls going into the stands at high speed and broken or whole bats flying into the crowd as well. There was a woman who was sitting in the first row behind home plate several weeks ago hit in the head by a foul ball who was also seriously hurt. Her problem was not facing the field while play was going on and never new what hit her, since there wasn't any video of this women being hit who knows if she was paying attention or talking to those around her. Still another problem at any sporting event is the consumption of alcohol and if it's done to excess you basically have sitting ducks along the baselines that could be seriously hurt if a ball or bat comes their way. The key here is you have to pay attention to the game and what is going on in the game! Hopefully the women will make a full recovery.

I heard on the news that a person was killed when a they got hit in the head with a hockey puck . There has been issues with the bats breaking and they were being made from stronger wood . I guess there will need to high shield in the front row to keep objects from flying into people .

I read that someone (either a player or a worker there) said that the park had really inadequate netting and everyone who sits where she did is at really high risk for injuries. There are a couple other spots that are also high risk at that park.

Then I guess there will be a big lawsuit , the woman is recovering slowing , she just started a new job too that is tough too.
