when i was teenagers my mom never look for dogs and got hit they got died but no reports to police im sure someone who owners the dogs! and my mom going to dog's owner about dog's death what so terribles!

. . . im hope the woman will be alright and will watchout for wild animals like deer and moose . . .

There's no way to watch for those animals, sara, they just jump out and the driver doesn't see. I hit a doe (deer) Christmas eve morning at almost 3:30 in 1987 coming out of a small town in Wisconsin enroute to the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/Saint Paul, Minnesota) for Christmas. I only knocked the wind out of her, but scared the daylights out of me, in so much that for years, I refused to drive in Wisconsin when it's dark. I didn't see the deer, as it was snowing a little, the road wasn't slick or shiny and it was darker than an ace of spades. Fortunately, it was just the front left corner and I'm small enough to get out of the driver's door. If you rode with me now, you'd swear my head is loose, as I don't keep my eyes or head facing forward but am constantly scanning from side to side . . . all the time. I don't move my head nearly as much at night, but am always watching and haven't hesitated to stand on my brakes, which I've had to do a few times in recent years.

Moose is pretty solid body and hit hard impact. I notice moose's horn is missing. Must be hit and broke off. I have pictures happen in Canada in somewhere at auto thread.

Just think about this, if you had compact car instead of SUV, what are your chance of surviving or seriousness of injury?

SUV ruiles!

Poor Moose :(

OMG and YIKES!!!!!!! Poor moose but at least the driver is ok! Gosh! I almost hit the deer with my brand new car way back in 1993! Lucky I saw the deer and slowed down a bit! Scary!!!!

POOR MOOSE! :(

Now I am careful at night cuz deer or any other wild animals can be tricky!

Get some deer whistles... They're works on my truck since my area is large of population of deers.

As for this thread, first of all, glad the driver is alive. I'm curious, moose is a huge massive animal. How in the world would a driver hit a moose?

Good luck with waste of gas, it's varies of SUV that has horrible accident test.

I refuse to get SUV because of not greener and not fuel saving friendly.

Oh, shush. This thread isn't talk about gas wasting. It's talking about a woman hit moose by her little SUV.

yeah, plus safety is more important than saving gas.

Still, SUV got better mileage than it was 30 years ago.

What's a deer whistle? We have so many deer around here that they hang out in my yard! On my college campus, they just stand around and let you walk right by them. They just look at you like, "oh,its another human!" I'm always afraid one will run out in front of my car at night.

Ahh.....it's.....Oh, LakeTahoe has answered your question. Thank you, LakeTahoe. :) So, yeah, it's works for me. Been using it for a year and half. Haven't hit by a deer since I bought a truck plus the deer whistles. *knocking on wood*

I live in the town where the woman hit the moose, and believe it or not, those suckers can move FAST. She was lucky it was a small moose, she could have easily been killed.

I almost hit a deer when I was living on Cape Cod. So now I lives in NH and there is lot of moose around and that is my son's favorite animals. He saw it once.

You don't need tell me, period, you don't create this thread, don't you respect my opinion about SUV, it's all related.

Disagree with most safety in SUV, there's fatal accidents for SUV, same as other vehicles, I don't get killed by horrible accident on my saturn compact car, it's depends on model and brand of SUV, some of them has horrible accident test.

Pacman, will you please shut up and change subject and talk about what happened to her. Gas mileage with SUV and moose has nothing to do with this thread! You're acting like a bratty little boy!

If you want to talk about SUV's stinky gas mileage, go and create a new thread!
