SYDNEY (Reuters) - An Australian woman got the shock of her life when she gave birth to a healthy baby boy just three hours after learning she had been pregnant for nine months.



Carolyn Hounsell, 27, went to her doctor with stomach pains and was admitted to hospital, The Daily Telegraph reported on Saturday. A few hours later, the care worker said she got "a very big shock" when she delivered a 3.6 kilogram boy.


"I'd had some indigestion," Hounsell said, according to the newspaper.


"They sent me off for an ultrasound, which told them I was at 37 weeks. The cramping I'd had were contractions," she said.


Hounsell had tried unsuccessfully to conceive in the past.


Her husband Dennis Ross, 44, had been told he could not father children after a car accident two-and-a-half years earlier.


"He's a good size. It makes you wonder where I could hide it. My boss was very surprised but not quite as surprised as I was," Hounsell was quoted as saying.
 
:eh: WTF!? How the hell could she not know for 37 weeks!?
 
i agree Vampy!!! but some women just dont realize theyre preggy til 9 mos later oh sheesh
 
dang... no period for 9 months, the occassional morning sickness.. lil weight gain... change in mood and appetite...HOW could she not know? jesus!

Hey, it could happen! They have a birth control pill that allows you to have no periods for over 6 months.
 
Dang, that's so ridiculous and outrageous!
I remember I read a story in magazine about a heavy teen girl didn't know she was pregnant til she gave a birth in her bathroom.
That woman is definitely fat... :-x
 
Not all women will experience the cycle of having their menses during pregnancy. Some will continue to have their menses normally while most won't.
It's a fact..I've been told by my GP and word of mouth from other friends as well.
 
Oh this is not rare. I know a deaf woman up north in California who didn't know she was preggie until 8 months with her husband's child. They were trying to get pregnant ever since and didn't know they were tryig TOO hard, lol. The woman was not FAT nor apparently pregnant... just she happened to have wide hips so it appeared as small "pouch" of fat on her instead of big basketball sticking out. The roomate of the deaf couple teased this woman because he said that every time he saw her, she always gained a size so her pants always got bigger and bigger everyday and thought she better stop eating too much before she got too big for her husband! She said that she found out when she was going to a gyno's appt to check if her eggs are fertile and the gyno was doing the utlrasound for cancer and other healthy issues that may be the reason for inability to get a baby, then the next thing he saw was a head and he had to stop the appt and immediately send her over to a different gyno who deals with utlrasound for BABIES since this gyno only deal with insemination (which was the next option of this deaf couple).
Last time I saw her, she and her deaf husband had a healthy 2 months old baby, 7.5 lbs at birth.
Isn't life funny?
 
wtf??? i was so fat in the past even i carried 3rd time..
I knew I was pregnant.. cuz i feel baby move.. This is so weird to me.. eh
 
Interesting..... really impossible for her :dunno: about the baby. I heard and believe that women could feel the babies during the months. Some women :dunno: in the few months, should be... Me guess... :D I am not mother yet, :lol:
 
funny thing that I saw on the News that one woman in wheelchair that she didnt know that being pregnancy ...that person look like 40's to 50's year old ... she had health problem ...she went to bathroom and drop baby in the toilet and called 911 that baby was in toilet so he pick it up, went hospital ... healthy baby doing well .. I can't believe that she should know what is it.... huh? thats weird
