My friend plan to buy new HP notebook soon. I need to know about Windows operation. Windows 8 is better and faster than Windows 7??? Anyone have used any PC in using Windows 8 operation?

Yes, it's faster. I have 3 pc's with windows 8 so far since oct 2012. It is not champ faster (+100-200% speed) more like +10-35% speed depend on task.

Windows 8 gives a bit more battery life. PS: Just add Startisback ($5 full license) and it will be like windows 7.

Thank you, Naisho. I never learned about Windows 8. I always used Windows 7 pro on my Dell desktop computer. But Windows 8 don't support P3 and nTouch PC for apps. Use normal desktop like Windows 7 for using some VRS? Right?

there is a button on keyboard to switch to classic desktop so yes you can still use VRS based software.
However - In my experience setting up windows 8 for others, stay away from windows 8 unless the laptop has a touch screen. Its frustrating without touch screen in windows 8. Windows 7 is still supported by microsoft till 2020 I think. I dont know about you - but windows 8 is great tablet like but if you have to navigate everything via mouse and keyboard, it kinda defeats the purpose of getting windows 8.

Right now I am dreaming of chromebook pixel - but I dont think there is any support for VRS app for it - its too new and its a chrome OS and none of the VRS has support for it .... yet maybe.

Radioman, have question about VRS. If VRS incoming callings, pop up alert on Windows 8 to switch classic destop automatically. Right?

good question -- I havent tried it that way. I'd love to know too. I just setup a few win 8 laptops and tablets and then walked away.

Windows 8 is faster but like it's been mentioned it's frustrating unless you have a touch screen. Keeps popping from screen to screen too and that gets old. There are some apps you can get to help but tbey are not perfect yet.

I'm currently using Windows 8 with Dell XPS 12 and indeed that it boot hell lot faster than Windows 7. I would say under 6 seconds to boot up and when I login, it went right into Windows 7 mode split second.
Yes, touch screen would be great with Windows 8 using charms view even though my XPS 12 have flexibility of laptop mode or tablet.
Now about VRS, I don't know about P3 or ZVRS, I haven't test it but nTouch PC doesn't work in Windows 8 regardless if you are in Windows 7 mode or Charm mode. I will test out ZVRS to see if that works. The only way to use VRS is web base VRS.

You know during the evening when I shut down my computer and if I forgot something that I need to get it done, I don't want to boot up my computer, I just grabbed my XPS 12 and boot up fast and fix one thing then shut it down. Quick and nice.

Update: I tested ZVRS and that work fine, calling both way. Will test P3 later.

I am serious I have both new Acere both lol 3 laptop, I have serious, reason, yeah

depend on OS that is why exactly I understand you exaclty I have lots of gb larger!

I think that my friend would buy new HP notebook (Microsoft Windows 7 Professional (64-bit) with Windows 8 Professional License). I don't need to update Windows 8 till P3 and nTouch VP may be updated for Windows 8 certification.

just walk away from this windows madness and grab yourself a macbook pro.

I think a general rule is, never use MS's latest operating system, it may be faster and better looking, but it will take a while for all the bugs to be fixed :)

I have hp windows 8.1 latest update with windows, Windows 8 is intergrated part of windows 7 and xp. just newer features. and I believe so it is compatible. but not aware about for windows phone for p3.....
