  Thanks Cheri and Shel!  I just have the belief that if you truly want to be a part of the culture, and you are doing it for the benefit of your child, then you approach the Deaf community on THEIR terms.  But some people seem to expect that the deaf must approach the hearing culture on hearing terms, and then also expect that the Deaf culture will change to accommodate the hearing view.  I just find that very arrogant.
