(NEWSER) – Paleo dieter Anne Kadet was getting tired of the high prices of meat and produce, so she found another source of nutrients—one that certainly wasn't made with her in mind.

"I couldn't help notice that my dog's high-end kibble—like my paleo diet—is high in protein, grain-free, and gluten-free," she writes at Ozy.com.

Kadet ate dog food of all kinds for almost a week. Her meals featured kibble and wet food, with Milk-Bones for snacks. The results? Two pounds of weight loss and blood sugar on "the ultralow end of the ideal range—even better than when I was eating paleo."

As for the taste, the situation varies: Kibble is "dry and gritty," with "a nutty, slightly sour taste," and " halfway through the bowl, my jaw gets tired. " One canned meal tastes "metallic and disturbingly bland," while another is "delicious."

And there's "an unforeseen upside to my new diet: The only dish I have to wash is my dog food bowl." Kadet finds that her "energy level is through the roof," but she hasn't stayed on the stuff.

Experts inform her that dogs and humans need different amino acids, and dogs make their own vitamin C. Still, given the choice between dog food and a Kraft dinner, Kadet says she'd choose the former.

Yeah, I had to do that when I found my best friend in bed with my wife. Dogs are off limit to the furniture.

She's short changing herself, not meant for nor nutritionally enough for human consumption. We have different needs and she is making some seriously wrong asumptions. Another good but nasty way to tell it does not digest well? If what dhe dumps exceeds what the toilet will hold, she will have plumbing problems from her toilet soon. :barf:

Wow. A few years ago, I was visiting at a house and just happened to watch a cable show once about people with weird addiction. This woman had been eating cat dry food for years. She said that if her cat is doing well, then she is doing well! I couldn't believe what she said. Her brother forced her to go see a doctor. The doctor explained what her poor eating habits does to her body and she had yellow thing in her eyes. Her look went pale. I recall vaguely the doctor was able to convince her to change her eating habits. But the medical issues she is dealing is inevitable.. bleh.
