I am deaf??..... Example that some deaf people do lose balance at nights....

Wonder same thing with treadmill? I am always to hold the handle of treadmill while I am walking to joggers… However, I see some people and one lady who overweight than I do… She dares to walking and jogger on treadmill without hold the handle? :eek3:

Recently, I am tried walking and jogger without hold handle my treadmill but I still lost balance.?

It happened to me before but I give myself 2 mins to hold then let it go slowly then flow with it. Try that!

I just use the handles period...I wouldn't go without it till I get use to it...I need to get my ass back on it and get those fatty off my stomach! :giggle: I know it does take times!

because your body has the sensation that it is moving forward (running) but your visual input tells your brain that you are standing still, so thus you may lose your balance at first. I would suggest using the hand rails until your body adjusts for this.

It is also normal to have an unusual sensation after you get off the treadmill and start walking around the room - especially when you have been on it for 15 minutes or more.

Lord I miss those days where I would be on the treadmill for hours at a time.

I'm member of Health Club. I always go on Treadmill. I never have a problem with my balance. I have to use my hands on handle. Sometime without when I am jogging.

Not because of deaf. Just happened itself. You have to wear a comfortable running shoes. It will help your balance better.

Or, you could.. you know. Walk/run on the real ground?

I'm mostly kidding... but still haha.

People drive their car to a gym, to do artificial walking or running... what is wrong with this picture. :laugh2:

I agree with you Jenni-M

but in honesty though, people have become too dependent on their shoes to provide balance for them. Do what the Kenyans do to improve their balance and strengthen their feet and leg muscles - RUN BAREFOOT!

There are excercises off the treadmill you can do to improve your balance.

One involves lunges, the other involves using your horizontial hip flexion. I found these excercises in Backpacker Magazine that mountaineers use to improve and maintain their balance, Ive done them myself and I do see (and feel) some improvement.

If you press up up up on the speed button make it to 100 on treadmill, you won't lose balance.

Ok I will return my fitness center on July 8 th when my girls are going to Summer camping and test their treadmills.... I think my treadmill sucks! its 6 years old :dunno2:

Balance depends on the individual and how their deafness is caused.

Not everyone becomes deaf for the same reason. Some become deaf from sickness, others from genetics, others from accidents, etc...

So, balance could be related to some deafness... while others aren't.
