Why dogs smells other dogs butts so much

I found this utube interesting . I know why dogs sniff butts but I didn't about the way the dogs brain works when smelling butt. :giggle:

That's why you don't share ice cream with your dog after smelling other dogs buttocks.

LOL! If my dog does get any ice cream I put a little in bowl , he just get a taste and that all.

Good to know. My ex and some of my friends share ice cream with dog, mentioned dogs have the most cleanest tongue ever, and even allow dogs lick their faces.

Well, yes its a fact, but I believe it has to do with which sense they first acquired and used to communicate and get around when they were puppies. Puppies are blind for first 10 days, so they depends on their nose to begin with and learn how to use it which end up use that for the rest of dog life.

Same applies to ASL, Deaf learn first language as ASL, because they can't hear to begin with but sees instead so they use visual as primary method of communication. English language itself is heavily based on sounds, so without sounds, its impossible to learn English perfectly.

"Dogs also have a secondary olfactory system in their nose called the Jacboson's organ, which is designed specifically for chemical communication. Its nerves lead right to the brain -- so the smell of poop doesn't overpower their sensitive senses. "

I didn't know this about dogs and want to know why people brains don't work the same way . I have a sensitive sense of smell and I wish I could shut it off at times.

This is because humans hear and see before they start smell, hence why human brain aren't develop the way the dogs brain developed. Humans learns to communicate by sounds, for Deaf, it's visual that they learn to communicate with. It's all about primary sense acquired and use as communication method.

I can smell and see better than I can hear. I used my eyes a lot more before I got my first HA. I notice the smallest details about people when I was a little girl and I would point them out not knowing it was rude.

Read somewhere that when dogs smell another's butt...they can tell what's in their diet....Made sense to me......as the neighbor's dog always followed me around....my doggie gets a little steak and pork chops once in awhile....and a treat every AM after doing her business.

When the coyote came right up my dog Marty and me the coyote was really sniffing my dog butt and back. I was not sure what the coyote was thinking my dog was a meal or a playmate and I didn't wait to find out !
I yelled at it and the coyote took off!
