Matajan. You're probably wondering why people are "mean". Please take a look at this ladder and theoretical framework on "moral" "intellegence":

Kohlberg's stages of moral development:

Level 1 (Pre-Conventional)

1. Obedience and punishment orientation

(How can I avoid punishment?)

2. Self-interest orientation

(What's in it for me?)

Level 2 (Conventional)

3. Interpersonal accord and conformity

(Social norms)

(The good boy/good girl attitude)

4. Authority and social-order maintaining orientation

(Law and order morality)

Level 3 (Post-Conventional)

5. Social contract orientation

6. Universal ethical principles

(Principled conscience)

Figure out where you are in this ladder system. Then ask yourself why you're asking all of these questions...figure out who you are...date...and don't explicitly try to date someone who will meet your parents' strict, conservatist expectations. It does sounds like you're letting your parents dominate your conscious. Break free from that. I listen to my parents, but I don't ever take what they say as the exact road map to "Happiness". Seriously. If your parents require those things, then ask THEM why they have to be rich or "Ivy-League".

If you have more practiciable questions like "What kind of flowers should I bring on a first date, if any"? AD memebers will be courteous to answer those.
