I wonder why does everyone said ivy league schools are snobbery?

What is wrong with people at ivy league schools? I have met many people but few are deaf from ivy league are nice to me. For example, one deaf girl is from brown university, worked at dept. of labor in washington dc, came visit to gallaudet for career fair last time, she is very nice person and can talk a bit but good sign. I do not think any one come from ivy league would be snob and do not really care about deaf culture like one person is from MIT, here at All Deaf who never learn about ASL, why? Should deaf people to be proud of deaf culture and went to ivy league schools? I would made feel comfortable if I met deaf people can sign at ivy league school like Cornell, I want to see more people sign there. In this fall, I hope I can meet people at Havard who can sign and make new friends.

And what is about Gallaudet University? Did you heard about this university is bunch of snob people?

I know many Ivy League people and several people from Gally. Only you are a snob.

California School for the Deaf is a private school as well as other school is College Preparatory School are both type of people.

I learned that many school for the deaf have a bunch of snob people includes CSD-Fremont, MSSD, Maryland, and Indiana. But CSD is worse people because they are snob to me ever my old friends and ex-girlfriend never talked to me again. Some of them came to Gallaudet University and prestigious schools, they are still snob people.

yo, buddy, a correction: Just because I don't know ASL doesn't mean I don't care about the deaf culture. I am learning ASL and will take an ASL class at...yes, omg, the place you want to go to...HARVARD this spring! And I bet I have 1003458349538940 more Harvard friends than you and I do know deafies from there. :nana: :nana: :nana: :nana: :nana:

So cut the crap about threads like this and go study for your classes...don't you have finals coming up soon?

Oh, really. I got this from you clearly, maybe I was not surprise because sometime some people are appeared who came from top schools and knew sign like one article I mentioned about someone from brown and another one from AllDeaf, from harvard, knew signs. How long will you learn ASL?

I know finals coming up then I need to study. I said Harvard this fall.

People who are superior and look down on other people who do not belong to intellctual, wealth, and other type of groups; also, people always ingore or refuse to associate with people who needs them as part of society but they expect they keep inside this society lead to become pride of culture and type of group. For example, you are from local or mainstream school, you are being normal and good student, one time, many people said you are recommend to go to school for the deaf because you will have to meet something but this place do not offer you anything. You enter school for the deaf, you already have your own culture and value but something change because you around with new people and academic standard, you felt you turned into deaf culture and feel happy with this. You would be ego and pride of this group at school for the deaf, you might become snob person because you went to school for the deaf is private school same as college preparatory school where it helps you to get into ivy league school or prestigious school by your grades and other activities.

ah-ha. I understand now. Let me explain.

Here's what you don't understand. There's a difference between "snobby attitude" and "ignoring".

What happened to you... people are ignoring you because you are very annoying to them. You have a snobby attitude. That's why people are ignoring you. You thought they are being snobby to you but no that's not true. Do you understand what I'm saying?

I understand what you are saying.

Will you tell me that there is nothing wrong with wealthy family who have children to private school, ever I knew one person go harvard do not like phone call through ip relay from school, angry with me, ingore me when I saw her at graduation party with her parents own country club. I have many friends from prep school but some of them did not like phone call through ip relay or text frequently.

I'm sorry to hear that people don't want to talk to you. There is nothing wrong with wealthy family who have children that go to private school. I have many friends like that. They are cool. I just came home from my high school reunion.

They are cool and fine. They are not snobby. You have to understand that it's your attitude that they don't like. That's why they're ignoring you. You have to change your attitude. Act like an adult, not a child. Don't ask too many personal questions.

Can you set me up with a rich one??? Actually the rich part doesn't matter.

yo kid, its part of growing and discovering their own identify and same thing they go through college life. After graduate, thats when they actually discover the true identify.

For example, born Deaf, thats ONE identify and but.. culture, experience, life, self-esteem and more room to exploring the identify to become completely identify.

Sure, what are you looking for in a gal? Let me know and I'll see if I can get back to you. Perhaps you want one within your age group or my age group? Hrmm?

Who cares? They are just people.

You need worry about yourself, not other people.

foxrac's words is clear, matajan read and re-read Foxrac's words , for right now thats the best advice you'd have for a long time. just keep it simple, stupid . Now write this down on your dollar note, toilet papers, forehead "K.I.S.S" KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID.....meaning to say FORGET other people -they too complicated, worry about what you doing with yourself. It's HARD because you are looking outwards too much and forget about what its like to be WITH you, so that begs the question, "what am I like to be with ? for other people" im a fussy im a expecting too much am i judgeing too much am i difficult to have conversation (and why? the list goes on forever once you start to do this. There is never a better time than Now to start.
