Who picks which coaches?

How many coaches do you see on sidelines during football games?

You see, some head coaches will pick everyone for their staff. Other head coaches simply pick their offensive and defensive coordinator. In turn, the coordinators will pick coaches themselves for the staff.

It's pretty mind boggling how many coaches there are.

I can't say I know the full process for hiring in the NFL, but I imagine it is similar to a large company. While most people look at sports teams as a leisure activity, the business side of it is the same as other businesses. My guess is: The person has to go through a full process of interview, contract, etc.
