Nico is a good example. She was Deaf in one ear.
Beethoven performed his famous 9th Symphony after he lost his hearing.

Know of any more?

I guess you would have to count every band from the 60's on... I doubt many went through entire careers without hearing loss.

I have friends who are musicians who've lost it.

Most orchestra and Jazz musicians end up with some extent of hearing loss after playing for a number of years. It's getting a bit better with awareness efforts and special ear plugs, but most musicians still don't use them because it makes it harder to hear subtleties.

i saw deaf lady drummer who i understand is famous i forgot her name she got international aclaim

Yes, I saw a TV thing on her. She plays kettledrum-- reverb!!! :D

There is also a rock musician who has microtia in one ear.
Perhaps one of the better-known people to suffer from microtia is KISS guitarist, and front-man Paul Stanley

I think you're thinking of Evelyn Glennie. She's an awesome percussionist :)

I play piano and I'm hard of hearing, but not. with a sever loss. Although my hearing aids do help. Music seems to something I always hear.

thats the one....i watch documentary this morning about teaching deaf children music one little boy was feeling piano strings,i only saw a little of it but what i understand in uk they going to make music more ascessable to deaf children

There's probably too many to count but you can bet that most of them have only realized the hearing loss recently....but of those that have spoken of it:

Neil Young
Ozzy Osbourne
Phil Collins
will.i.am
Brian Wilson
Jeff Beck
Eric Clapton
Pete Townshend...and of course we all know about the most famous musician:
Ludwig van Beethoven

I used to attend concerts of the Argentine folk legend, Mercedes Sosa, often sitting in the front row. The music was always unbearablely loud and I'd have to turn my hearing aids off and keep it very low during the performance, with Blondie as well (they were fantastic by the way); whenever I saw Tango in Boston, again, the music was ear shattering. There should be a rule that dictates the acceptable level of volume used during performances for the safety of the audience, many times which include children.

Any rock/heavy metal musician - it's a safe bet they have hearing loss. BTW, I think you're referring to Nina Falaise.
