White

I cant wait to wear my white capri pants because I am sooo sick and tired of my dark colored pants..blah!!!

<------ is never going to wear white pants or capris. Reminds me of a nurse uniform.

LOL. sometimes I do feel that way. I dont wear it that often though. I automatically get a stain in my pants anyway. Thats why I only buy white pants on sale. But this year, I dunno if i will buy one. I still have one but its about 6 years old and was too big for me. I like white pants only if i am in a hot tropical weather like florida or carribean, not in syracuse.

All of my pants except for one pair are black. Saves me having to think about matching. :cool2:

me too. sometime, i need white that i can wear dark vest or cover soemthing along with the white thingy. Hey, my thread is about WHEN, not LIKEABLE. ;)

It used to be a rule of thumb that you didn't wear white before Memorial Day or after Labor Day. I don't think anyone goes by that anymore, though. I have seen people wearing "winter white" all year round.

It is going to be 80 degrees here tomorrow. I plan to wear a pair of winter white cargo capris.

Some of my co-workers still go by that rule and they would criticize anyone who doesnt. Immature.

Agreed! They need something better to do with their time than keep track of who is wearing white when.

How did the association between summer time and wearing white come about anyway?

Because it worked for many years in the Middle East. They have white tents for the same reason.

oh I remember watching "Splash, Bang, Splat" and they demonstrate the differences between white and dark using water.

They used two pans, one was black and the other was white and filled it with cool water. They covered the pan of water with plastic wrap and let it sit in the hot summer sun for a few hours. Then took a temperature of each water to see which was hotter. Of course, the black pan was hotter than the white one.

Lighter colors deflect the sun.

Makes sense. I guess I meant more specifically why it was considered taboo to wear white after Labor Day and before Memorial Day. Just a weird social rule that arose from the logic behind wearing white in the heat?

I have always heard easter not Memorial day...:dunno: That is also when you change you cowboy hat. Real cowboys only wear Straw between Easter and Labor Day

You mean plain white? Never...

I do have two pairs of white trousers but I do wear them rarely. One is a pair of summer pants (we didn't have any summer last year :giggle:) and the other pair I wear them on special occasions if I am in the mood :D

Does that answer your question? Or you wanna know more? LOL

Yeah I guess I have old habit of mind thinking that way only if im in the coldest climate, not in a warm weather such as florida or any other south places. I have seen people wearing white white around here. One thing sticks out for me to see a girl wearing white pants with fair skin walking by at the bowling. That's how I created a thread here. :giggle:
