Good day,

I am not a deaf person, but I would like to learn sign language. I'm not sure which sign language to learn though; whether ASL or BSL or the South African Sign Language.

I'm an ESL teacher and therefore may travel a bit depending on where I teach. I'd like to be able to sign or speak with the deaf wherever I go.

Could anyone shed some light on which sign language would be the best to learn?

Thanks in advance.

If you travel a lot to communicate other deaf, it would be the best for you to learn ISL (International).

BTW, what is ESL?

In the US the term ESL commonly refers to English as a second language.

:wave:if you south African and going back to SA I would thought SASl be the best along with ISL. where are you going?

Never heard of it before.
