I will be buying a new refrigerator and wanted if know people found it better to have the freezer on the top or bottom . I always had it on the top , my refrigerator is starting to get very noisy . I got it around 1992 -1994 . It's more convince to have the freezer on the bottom to you?

I've had bottom, top, side-by-side freezers and stand-alone freezers.

It all comes down to how much freezer space do you need and what's convenient. I'm finding out that the top ones are nice but not enough freezer space for me as I like to stock up on sales. My previous one was side-by-side one and it is more organized because it offers more shelving but it is narrow. The bottom ones I remember were hard to find things because stuff would get stacked up on top of another.

It's matter of opinion in how you use your freezer and for what. For me, space is important for a freezer.

I like to stock on meat that is on sale but my freezer is never packed full . I do not use frozen veggies or premade frozen foods so I guess I do not need
a huge freezer . Thanks , that is very helpful knowing that about bottom freezers , I was wondering if there was any drawbacks .

The only drawbacks from my experience with the bottom ones are: bending down while finding what you need. Things can get disorganized quickly.

Here's what I found online:

Pros of Buying a Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

There is generally more storage in the bottom freezer
A bottom freezer is more convenient if you don’t use the freezer more often than the rest of the fridge
Bottom freezer refrigerators are more energy efficient. Since warm air rises, the top freezer refrigerator uses more power to keep the temperature cooler
The storage areas you use most often are at eye level; you can quickly see exactly what you have in the refrigerator
The fridge part often has different compartments with different temperatures for dairy, vegetables and drinks

Cons of Buying a Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

A bottom freezer refrigerator is usually more expensive than a top freezer refrigerator
There is more bending and a swing door bottom freezer is hard to access. People with bad backs are better to stick with a regular top freezer refrigerator
Higher repair rate. For some reason bottom freezer refrigerators break down more often
There is less choice of refrigerators. There seem to be fewer choices in the finish of bottom freezer refrigerators

Hope this helps. :)

Yes! Thank you ! This is very helpful! I will stick with the top freezer, I have a bad back and I do not want to spending $$$ to keep fixing a broken freezer. Refrigerators do not last as long as the one my parents had. Everything is made so crappy today.

We have a side by side and I love it. We have a freezer in the garage too.

I like the French door style of refrigerator....

That's what my daughter has. Very nice. Samsung digital with water and ice dispenser in the door. Stainless steel. Very adjustable interior for oversize items.

The water in your daughter's town or city has to taste a lot better than in my city . I thought about the side by side , I will have to see how difference in cost they're.
You can't put your grandchild art work on stainless , the magnets won't work . Stainless does look nice though , it might be out of my price range.

Angel , I wish I could have an extra freezer but I live a condo and have no room for one , plus we lose our power a lot in my small city. My parents had a huge freezer in our basement, my dad kept it packed with meat and
ice cream. Dad had very little food to eat in Russia so he made sure that would not happen again.

Our water comes from lakes Moultrie and Marion. It's OK. However, my daughter also has installed a full-house water purifier system (I can't remember the exact type).

OK , that would work but I am also trying to find a way to have my dog have his knees fixed , the surgery cost $4,000 . Damn , I sure wish I knew where my dad planted his money tree he kept talking about!

I can't afford it either, so I drink the tap water, as is.

The tap water is so bad in my city , it smell like bleach . And is really pissed me off that I have to buy bottles water and pay for the city water too. I know bottled water is only tapped water but at least I can drink it.

I buy those Brita pitchers with filters in it to use for drinking water. Cheaper than a full-house water purifier system which is expensive. Package of 3 filters run around $15.

My ex husband had one and I did not like it.

Reverse osmosis is a best choice for kitchen undersink water filter. That's why it's more expensive than others. Also that's what bottled water companies use but in industrial size.

I told a friend that I needed to buy a new refrigerator and my friend that was a negative statement , if a friend told you they needed buy a new refrigerator would that be a negative statement or unhappy thing to say??

It depends on if your friend is handy or not. I don't see that as a negative statement.

I can't find an illustration of them but for a while they were making side by side ones where half of each section was full width and the other half narrow. The idea was to be able to put in large trays and other items that would not fit in a standard side by side without it being a vary, vary large one. I was very interested in the idea but could not afford to change from a working one just for that feature at the time.
