Hey All,

Do you know where I can find an agency that would be able to provide me with a Sign Language Interpreter free of charge? I am referring to a non-profit organization who have interpreting services available free of charge for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing clients?

Thanks

I am not aware of an organization that provides interpreters for free not in my knowledge.

But, at a school where my son goes the board of education has one interpreter on their payroll, and whenever I need or other deaf parents needs an interpreter for a parents/teacher's conference, they send one over to us from the department of board of education. ;)

Bad news, there is no such as free interpretering service unless you know someone personally.

It depends on the reason that you need an interpreter.

If you are Deaf and need an interpreter for doctor appointments, school classes, DMV, job training, social services, VR, business meetings, community meetings, lawyer appointments, etc., then you don't pay for those services. They are free for you. The other party (doctor, lawyer, school, VR, etc.) pays the interpreter.

If you are using an interpreter for personal events then you might be responsible for the bill. It depends on the situation.

I don't think there are any free sign language interpreters.
