Did you keep the earmoulds from the hearing aid(s) you wore previously? What has made you change your earmoulds specifically?

No I got new. Earmolds really should be changed every year.

I get new earmoulds when I think I need them

I kept the earmolds from my last pair of hearing aids to use with my CIs in case I'm doing something where my processors will fall off.

However, if truth be told, I haven't worn earmolds since the day of my second CI surgery in February 2006.

I have kept some of the old molds, just in case the current one decides to.... get damaged somehow! then I have backup while I wait for the new mold to be made and arrive.

This is what I've always done as well. Good suggestion cd.

I get new earmolds when I get a new HA. If lose weight I need a new earmold as the old get too lose and feedback and that drive people nutty!

I am sick of audio's feedback with earmolds need to be new every 6 to 12 months. I got a new both earmolds last Dec. In 2 months later in Feb, the puppy chewed my right earmold. I went to audio to make a new mold. 1 month later my right earmold arrived last March. I wore a old earmold in right. It was not comfortable because it's wore out by shrink. The new soft tubes and wore out at hard tubes quickly.

I remember just before I did my CI operation , my HA been whistling so much , that I had gone through 5 earmold changes...in a month! lost my patience and I let my HA whistle for the rest of two months till I got implanted...I remember my relief when I finally was lucid..NO MORE WHISTLING!!

but I've kept my HA , dunno why...

and they cost mighty a lot...other than that , before that , I had my earmoulds done bi annually...

I got mine 4 years ago and I have been dying to get some new ones because I find mine are a little childish (because someone else told me they thought they were). Mind you, I got these ones when I was 12. I really want the ones that go into the ear but we just can't afford it right now. Last week I thought I was going to get some new hearing aids because the right one had broken (the inside of the hearing aid was exposed) but then we found an extra that we had gotten a couple years ago. I am hoping that in a year or so I will get new ones. I have blue Oticon Atlas Plus.

They are blue versions of this:

What do you think? I have been told they look childish by an idiot that I go to school with that seems to like criticizing everything about my life. I want to hear someone's opinion that has an IQ higher than he does (which is any of you).

Have only ever worn the in-the-ear models so am no help to ya, but HI anyway!

Tell them to get a life!! I had those HA's in my 30's... Be proud of who you are! It shows that you are not ashamed of your deafness.
I have seen few people with HA's that is of different colour and they are adult. A man in his late 30's/early 40's I saw few days ago got bright blue ones and he's bald.

Loghead,

I started wearing HAs when I was 15. That was back in 1985 and colored HAs were not available back then. If they were, I would have worn the brightest color possible to show them off and prove to others that I am not ashamed of my hearing loss. To those who have something critical to say, let them. It's their problem -- not yours. As long as you are able to accept yourself for the person you are, nothing else matters.

Thanks guys! :) This actually makes me feel better about having to wear these hearing aids for longer than I expected. If that guy says something to me again, I will have something to say to him. :)
