What would you do?

Will you have many many face lift, dye your hair, exercise more,
take many vitamins, go doctors every month, take 10 preciption pills a day,
live in old folks' home, rely on your grown up children, live old gracefully,
drive a race car, go fishing, or what?

I couldn't vote in your poll because some of your choices were conflicting. How can someone "grow old gracefully" and "let [theirself] go" at the same time? Also, someone might feel and act young, but not look young.

Anyway, I keep my mind and body active. I do what I can to stay healthy. I don't want to look too "granny" but I don't want to look like someone in denial about their age either. No one is fooled by older people trying to look hip. I will live in my own home as long as possible. I would not depend on my daughter to take care of me. If I had the money I would take advantage of plastic surgery. I don't like fishing but we go camping and swimming. I am not interested in driving a race car; my daily commute is challenging enough.

I dont know. Ill grow old but stay cool around my grandkids.

what if the Government suddenly stop social security and this country
goes into Great Depression again...

would you work at the old age or just starve to death or stay at shelter?

I'm not depending on Social Security for my full retirement. That will be just part of it. Hubby and I each have retirement from the military. Also, we are still working, and want to have all debts paid off (including the house) before retirement.

As long as we are healthy enough we will keep working, even just part-time. I can't imagine doing nothing.

:thumb: I want to keep active. I don't want to look like an old lady, so I want to do whatever I can to look good, which includes drinking a lot of water everyday. I dye my hair now, because if I didn't I really would be gray, but, there will be a time I will get tired of doing that and just let it go the color it should be.
My dad is 88 years old, and he is so active, and he laughs a lot, smiles a lot, and I believe that keeps him going strong. He still has a few friends his age that he will go out for coffee with, and goes to the Senior Center to play bingo, and as long as he has fun, that's all that counts for him.
I want to be just like my father when I get to be his age, because he takes things one day at a time, and if he can laugh once a day, his day is made.

You are too weird for words.

What will I do when I get old? Who knows. I'm only 1/4-1/5 through my whole life as of now. Much too early to think about that, when I don't even know what I want to do for a career as of yet.

I know what you mean. I have my water bottle with me everywhere. I even use one of those "camel back" water backpacks with the straw for constant hydration, like the military use. Glug, glug!

Hey, I can speak for being "old" because I am already there! Or at least that is what my age tells me! I am 72 years young and feel great and my mind is still going strong, tho my body becomes tired sooner. I am a great-grandmother and proud of it and am so glad I am not one of the youth of today. I never lived on Welfare, never had foodstamps and not EVER asked a thing from our Government. My classmates from my deafschool can say the same and all of them WORKED until retirement age and all did just fine. (No SSI in those days!).

I was born DURING the Great Depression, and raised by parents (hearing) who went thru it so learned a great deal from them and it stuck. No matter how comfortable my husband and I are, we still watch our pennies.

Questions? Feel free to ask, I will answer as many as I can.

you didn't have to worry about going to college? You think
young people are taking life for granted now...
hold off having children and marriage, relying on parents, and playing
nintendo?
And young people quit whenever they want to, and think pennies
are't worth anything... they don't value money like young people
back in those days?

Oh yeah, my retirement will be six years later. I may work second job until my health collpased. I love my second job so much because I always enjoy to work with Deaf people than Federal Government job.

I become tired of working with Federal for 24 years ! I could not sit around on the couch to do nothing to watch the TV, "Life Time" movies. No Thanks !

i never think about my age. sometimes i forget how old i am. i want to continue climbing til i die. my friend's friend does climbing at age 83. he is stubborn ! i admire him.
