when family and dog are homeless

i see... why does it has to wear its spiked collar? its not safe to hug it with it.:eek3:

sad but very common.
many people use the spiked collar on "pit bull"-type dogs because it makes the dog look more intimidating. May also be the only thing they have to use.

yeah, I agree with you, Derek-

i not sure i believe this story to many 'iff..'so well behave how come he in the road.they obviously short of money so why buy such big dog..,america got lots of animal charties that do not require vet payment and would have homed this dog before...what a surprise they set up facebook account for money.

I'm guessing that they got the dog before they became homeless.

when they became homeless dealing with dog should been first priority plus even in america they can.t just fling you out in street they got some notice. The reporter got such big heart then he could help...sorry but if they loved the dog they take it to animal shelter.to many things dont add up

Reality check:

Many shelters are overflowing...and all non-kill shelters are not accepting any pets. Do humans give up their children to DCFS because its too inconvenient? Same with animals in the household, its the same attitude they are valued member of the family/pack. I have seen few homeless families "stick with their dog" on the streets because they're family! There are some households that just view the dog as a tool, nothing more, nothing less. They're expendable. While to other families they are not expendable. They're priceless. This is the case with this specific family.

There are so many dogs in shelters because "family was moving" and it was inconvenient for them to try to find a dog friendly housing. Or was really too lazy to take care of the animal because their kid outgrew the animal. Someone got a girlfriend/boyfriend thats allergic to the animal.. the animal gotta go! The baby became allergic! The animal gotta go! There are so many lamest excuses out there. Some people dont know nothing about loyalty sometimes.

It's double harder with an owner that has a bully breed that will be accepted in a rental. And read the part about finding a hotel that's dog friendly... its hard on the family. I'm a bully breed owner, I took in this bully mix from the streets of Chicago because the wonderful city was going to put her to sleep if no one claimed her. One of the best decisions I've ever made!

I am one of those Americans that's living paycheck to paycheck because its getting harder and harder while my pay is getting lower and lower while cost of living is getting more and more. MAJORITY OF THE AMERICANS do not have savings to sustain themselves more than 6 months because the savings were dipped in to make cost of living out there. Its not cheap to live in America anymore in many cities.

There are no holes in the story. This is a typical American story, no life savings... no job, etc etc I know too many hardworking Americans that have no money, and no job- they're on SSDI or trying to make it out there. Why would one be so ignorant about families dealing with their loved ones that has fur that automatically assume they can be rehomed anywhere. Its not happening. Many places are full, family/friends are full, there is no where for animals to go but to be put to sleep!

SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR ANIMALS. The environment will thank you for it.
