Hey! -- From Miami, FL

Im new to this site. I'm not Deaf or HOH but i'm currently attending school to become a ASL interpreter[a helpful, caring and professional one :) ].

I was inspired by a cousin who i found out was deaf i was 12 he was 15, we just met for the first time. I was amazed by how cool and just like me he was lol. And when i saw him sign it was pretty cool to me, so i went home, did some research and now im not my wat to get my degree because i just wanna help whoever i can.

And ever since 2003 I've had my mind set on this career path. I guess I'm just hoping to make some friends. Oh and call me Chevy [its my actual nickname] =)

thank you Harold [my cousin, my inspiration]

I have been attending MDC now for about year and it is the best experience I have had when it comes to learning sign. The teachers are amazing and the people in the program really become good friends! I love it!

It is not the same... You are chevy57 and she is CHeVy....

yet similar but way different. You can not condone her for having a similar nick name as you..

It is her down home nick name, that all her friends call her.

when i checked my recent visitors i saw ur name and Passionate4ASL on my list. My screen name is CHeVY™ but when you go on my profile it just says chevy idk why. is there a way i could change my name? or add somethin to it?

Hi, CHeVY™. Hope you can find some fun and help here.

The problem with your userprofile is that because you registered with an ascii character in your username, in other words, the isn't parse-able on a web site hyperlink from forum generation, for example http://www.alldeaf.com/members/CHeVY™.html won't work because an URL cannot use the ™ character.
Instead it auto defaults to the closest match, which is Chevy- and that leads to Chevy57's profile.

In your REAL profile, the ™ is converted to the ASCII number. In this case ™ is %99 in url encoding, so I would rewrite it to:
http://www.alldeaf.com/members/CHeVY%99.html

But you would have to click that each time. The forum doesn't do it for you for your default profile.

In order to get this fixed the easy way you'll have to contact the administrator, Alex to rename your username so you won't encounter this issue again. Can you think of a new nickname?
It only really happens when anyone uses special characters or foreign letters in their name, and if there is another user that shares a common name, then that is the problem.

HTH (Hope that helps).
