I found out by online hearing tests that my range is around 40-50 on the charts, I just wondered what it means.

I can hear most things when people talk directly to me, but when poeple turn their backs and talk or talk from a distance it's begins to get a bit harder, I can hear the TV on volume level 26, so it can't be that bad, but on th iPad, I have to put the volume right up when watching a video, I'm terrible with background noise.

I mishear people sometimes, usually about 3-6 times a day, I've had times when people have called me from when the radio was on and I didn't hear them so they had to go get me, poeple gte annoyed with me when I mishear things because I'm only 19 and I've got a baby face!

One good thing that came out of it was that some jerk was calling me on when I was walking the dog, (coming out with a lewd comment or something) and because he was standing from a distance, I had no idea what he said, so I couldn't get offended because I'm the type of person to get offended easily or take things to heart! Nice save there, if I had of heard him, I would of been distraught and would of shouted something nasty back at him!

They call that a moderate loss, pretty much. Speech is heard in the 20-30 DB range, so it's not surprising you didn't quite understand what was being said. Did you get fitted for HAs?

I havn't gone to the doctors because I don't think it's bad enough yet, I can still understand a lot but I miss out on a few things, I've been diagnosed with APD so it could of easily been that all along.

My step mom is telling me to go, but it's not like I can't hear anything!

It is important to your future to establish a baseline hearing profile. Getting tested is inexpensive and easy. Just do it. With it done, in 5 years if you wonder whether your hearing is worse you get retested and have a good comparison.
This way you know if you should be concentrating on practices that will help compensate for the APD, and/or if hearing devices would make your social and professional life go better. The decision should not be based on whether things are "bad enough".

Ummm, we're deaf. Is that bad enuff?

That medical people should only be used if you are sick. That is all I meant.

People need doctors for things other than sickness. If you break you leg do you not go to a doctor because you're not sick? There could be medical reasons you have hearing loss. The only person who can accurately determine if you have hearing loss is an audiologist.
If you really don't want to go to a doctor or audiologist, you could go to a hearing aid specialist. These are usually found at places like Miricle Ear & Beltone. Also some Costco's have them.
Be aware that finding someone who is more interested in helping you than making a sale is preferred.
