Would only genetic hearing loss be progressive? If not, can you explain?
I was just wondering what was progressive
If you were deafened by ototoxic drugs, would your hearing loss be progressive? or does it depends?
Usually you would think of sensorineural loss .
Sensorineural Hearing Loss
Sensorineural hearing loss occurs when there is damage to the inner ear (cochlea) or to the nerve pathways from the inner ear (retrocochlear) to the brain. Sensorineural hearing loss cannot be medically or surgically corrected. It is a permanent loss.
Sensorineural hearing loss not only involves a reduction in sound level, or ability to hear faint sounds, but also affects speech understanding, or ability to hear clearly.
Sensorineural hearing loss can be caused by diseases, birth injury, drugs that are toxic to the auditory system, and genetic syndromes. Sensorineural hearing loss may also occur as a result of noise exposure, viruses, head trauma, aging, and tumors.
Type, Degree, and Configuration of Hearing Loss
I've wondered if prolonged wearing of HA would make a hearing go progressivly due to flattening of the hairlines.
It seems that most deaf people's hearing goes progressively to some degree or other. I was born with a 40db loss and ended up with an 80 db loss before it went altoghether.

Do you think my hearing loss was progressive then? I am not sure.
At nine months I had a severe loss, now it is profound in all frequencies except some of them which is very close to profound
