Shel90 I don't blame you for doing that. I see the line "What are you, deaf?" on the same level as "Are you retarded or what?" or "Lol, that's so gay." They used the word "deaf" in negatively way, as well as "retarded" or "gay". That's just from my point of view. That's why I did not like seeing that line on television or movie. I know it's just a habit of hearing people, but it seems little hurtful to me.
That's why I always try to avoid words that represent certain group in a degradable way.
