Seems that the contractor is working with him on this.
Hubby and I had a conversation early in our marriage, when he sold the first boat prior to our move to Missouri. It was basically that, I made him agree that once I got a home of our own, he could buy another boat, if we could afford it. Well, he eventually got to buy his boat, then later on, traded it in for a different boat and we moved that boat back here to Florida. Well, he sold that boat since it's actually too small for where he likes to fish and it is now back in Missouri. Hubby thinks that original conversation is still in force and mentioned to the contractor how he wants another boat and hopes there will be money to get one. Contractor is working with him with the guarantee that they go fishing together at times. Contractor has said that if MIL asks who the boat belongs to, just say it's his and then after we do taxes and pay off my car, we can say that hubby boat the boat from the contractor with the leftover tax money. Guess I should interject here, the contractor and his family are becoming good friends with us and we will be spending time together even after the house is done.
I just don't like being a part of the "duplicity" of this. Yes, hubby and I had that conversation back in 1996 and it was fulfilled. I didn't think he would bring it back up again.
