What are you guys doing this weekend and on Thanksgiving?

Ok..on this weekend, Jeremy has to work on this Saturday but my dad and my 14 years old brother David is coming to visit me and spend the night at our house. We are going to go out to eat and go shopping..etc. I got invitied by my brother in law's fiancee' Amanda to go to her 18th birthday party so we will stop by at 7 pm and stay there for a little while. Then on Sunday I think my dad is taking all of us out to eat for Breakfast and just chill all day until they go back home.

Jeremy and I am going to spend the night on Wednesday night at my grandparents' house in IL then the whole family and we will have thanksgiving with grandparents the next day. I can't wait... yummy.. I love food.. hehe! :mrgreen:
 
hmph. I dont celebrate Thanksgiving due to the fact that my family is not raised American. we only do the dinner ritual if we are with American-native friends... which is the case on the turkey weekend where my mother and I are forced to go down to my brother's ... elderly girlfriend (10 years older than him)'s thanksgiving lunch then we will be OUT before 2pm then I am hoping to go over to my filipino friend's parents' home for some asian food and to see her since we go to different colleges.



(DONT READ BELOW IF YOU DO WANT TO ENJOY THE POSITIVE AMBIENCE OF THE WHOLE PHILOSOPHY OF THANKSGIVING AND DON'T NEED ANYBODY TO RUIN THE "FUN" OUT OF IT)






I never really get the whole joy in thanksgiving. I know it is all about gratitude and everything but I don't like it that the history behind thanksgiving is not positive as the message is- the "white" piligram guys ended up killing all natives that saved their lives during the winter even though they all "shared" the thanksgiving dinner. Irony, eh? I am beginning to doubt that peaceful dinner story because there is just no way that the europeans would sit down with the natives after the given history where their abuse are contiunally repeated for the coloniations in the Africa, mayan/aztecs/many other current-mexico-state-tribes, south-america and many other exotic countries back in 14th century. Hmmphh!
 
mine's spent here on paradise, small thanksgiving dinner and spending time with family yep also football day knowing dad he ll entince me and the dogs to play football doggie style LMAO!, and pretty much hanging out and pigging out on the food then that's it....

Gnarly i respect ur status of celebration and not blame u for ur thinking of this, to me thanksgiving is a time where we all are together as a family and to enjoy our families despite the bitterness and etc. So thats how we today celebrate thanksgiving and ofc pigging out hahah :)
 
To me, Thanksgiving is about being with my family and spending time.. and of course I love food! Hehe! :D
 
being with family n my boyfriend's family! :) i will drink alot of wine like :beer: heh then i will :wiggle: then :laugh2: my ass off hehehe! ;)

Actually you are right, it is only a story. I think the origins of Thanksgiving was from when it was the end of the Civil War, and so many soldiers died. Families were split apart and so on. Peace was there again, and the government decided to bring up Thanksgiving tradition to be thankful for the family and all that. Thanksgiving did not become an official holiday until 1940s, after the World Wars, I think.

Anyway, I don't really know what I will be doing for Thanksgiving, since I am living in Utah, some 2.200 miles from my family in New Jersey. Someone told me about a general Deaf Thanksgiving dinner at the LDS Church on Wednesday before Thanksgiving, but I don't know yet if I will go or not, since I have to work until 8 pm that night. I'll be off from work on Thursday until Sunday, so I probably will think about moving to Salt Lake City during that time if things work out.

Anyway, Happy Thanksgiving to y'all!
 
I m gonna be at work in the morning for holiday pay but i might work at 2nd job in earliest morning after I get off from work.. I d might be at my parents.
 
this weekend i'm going hunting for wild turkeys... hopefully catch some.. for thanksgiving.. if not.. then my family will buy turkey at georgery store..

thanksgiving i'm going to my grandparents to eat as much as i can and over-full myself :D then day after thanksgiving i'm going to wake up 5 am.. and start SHOPPING!!!!!!!!! biggest SALE of the YEAR!
 
I'm working this weekend. I'll be working all week during the Thanksgiving Break as well.

As for Thanksgiving, I'll be spending Wednesday and Thursday evening with two friends.
 
I will be working on Wednesday from 5am to 2:30pm at first job then drive down to second job from 3pm to 11pm.

Leaving for Connecticut in earlier Thursday morning for the day. I can't wait to see my niece and nephew. I am rotten spoil Aunt to them ! :mrgreen:


Have to work Friday and weekend. Suck ! :(
