What are some interesting ways people have met ?

I want to see some creativity. Here are some examples:

1. You go to a bike shop. You see this person is trying to decide which U lock to buy. You go out of way to offer some advices. You hit it off well with the person. You become friends with the person.

2. You're pumping gas in your vehicle. You see someone stopping by to talk to mechanic. You go up to the person. You offer person advices about what repairs the vehicle needs. You save the person from being ripped off by mechanic. You end up being friends with the person.

3. You read fan comments on an article. One comment catches your attention. You want to talk to person. You are able to foster a healthy dialogue with the person. You become friends.

Feel free to share unique ways to make new friends.
 
My current best friend is a tennis player. Another friend of mine was teaching me how to play. I hit the ball to hard and it hit my friend in the eye. He had to go to the nurse and i went after him saying how sorry i was. Now we are best friends.
 
If I were hearing, sure I could do these things from your examples.

I am deaf and I cannot just walk up to a person and start a conversation. That's the worst part of being deaf. I'd LOVE to do that.
 
I met my good friend and roommate at a pool at my old apt complex 12 years ago.

I took my then 5 year old daughter to the pool one lazy Sat and saw two deaf ladies signing to each other in the pool. Never saw them before so I went to one of the lounge chairs on the other side to watch my daughter swim. One of the ladies waved and gestured at me frantically. I turned around to look behind me and saw nobody and asked "Me?" She said, "Yes, you! Come over here." So, I picked my stuff up and got my daughter to walk to the area near where they were. One of them mistook me for another person but we went ahead and introduced ourselves. The other lady had a 4 year old son so my daughter started playing with him. I spent the rest of the afternoon chatting with them. Turned out that the mother lived in the apt near my apt while the one who called me over was her cousin visiting.

Now, the mother and her two kids live with us. LOL
 
I met my missus at a karate tournament in 2005. She kicked me in the head and it kinda went from there.
To be honest, nothing we ever go through in our married life could ever be as painful as those first few moments.
 
I dont make a friend with anyone who I dont know. But I do chat with people if we happen to have to wait for something at a store or any wherre. Most of times we talk through my iphone or write on paper back and forth to make interesting conversation.

One time, I was at a bar, waiting for the drink. The lady saw me signing to a bar worker, and she came to me and asked if the bar worker knows ASL. I said, " no,". She laughed, and we chatted from there through the iphone or body language or write notes. While the bar worker finally gave me the drink then i continue to chat with her.

Then how do you made friends Every friends I had I did not know them , I met them through another person or on my own. We where complete strangers and happen have things in commons and became good friends.

more of acquaintances for me. I have not made good friends with them.

Have met many people just by walking my doggie...she's too pretty to resist (for the ladies anyway)....and of course for the small male doggies too...Just a few weeks ago, this male chi-chi came to my patio glass door and my doggie's tail was wagging like crazy...The doggie's owner came by...we chatted...now are friends!.....Another lady I met that now is a very good friend of mine...she loves my doggie also....
 
One friend met her spouse at a bus stop.

More recently many of my friends I've met through some online page or forum- either Comic Chat or PnC games/online riddles. All of them are hearing. A few I've me through existing friends- not many- or from work (again not many and most I've lost contact with as it is).

I'm like Frisky Feline- most people I meet are pretty much acquaintances. The few I am close with (or was....:/) were either college friends (one of whom I met in the cafeteria lol) or from online. I'm pretty boring although I can say I've met people through deaf bowling league and a deaf team in a Dart league. Haven't spoken to any of them in over ten years though.
 
all different ways.one the best sitting near two deaf girls having raunchy conversation I tried not to look but was intrigued, they turn mimed I nosey I signed back sorry and laughed were going same place
