We learn a sad news about the death of our good friend. He lost his life to throat cancer at age 59 last Wednesday night. We attended his cremation last Saturday morning and then follow X-mas party at Deaf club.

Anyway, on that Friday evening, I prepared to bake German X-mas cookies. I melted the bar chocolate for brush on the top of cookies. I was busy to bake alot of cookies and wasn't realized that electric cooktop cermaic (hot glass cooktop) is still hot as Flecky, my cat jumped from kitchen bar over my shoulder on the same time as I put tray of cookies into hot oven. The left side of hot oven burnt front of my left hand. I scream to fear Flecky off... I took care of my burnt hand and then carried to consider to brush the melted chocolate on the cookies... I was not expected that Flecky jumped onto my shoulder again for want to sit on my shoulder while I was consider to decorate on the cookies.. It jump me off and my both hands went to cooktop without realized that topcook is still hot. It burnt back of both hands. I was shock without realized that my both hands are on hot cooktop for seconds then go back to get a bowl of cold water to have my both hands in. My son alarmed the emergency. Emergency doctor came within few minutes and check and said that my both hands are not bad and said that I did great. He covered my both hands with special bandages for burnt. I went to family doctor yesterday for check. It look not bad - no blister - no severe burnt... Thanks God... but a little scar on my left hand still there.

On next day, we attended my friend's cremation and then Xmas party. They stared my both bandage hands... :ugh3:

After cremation, my hubby hurried to get real tree from a farmer. My hubby & boys decorated the tree on next day (Sunday)... It look pretty.... :D

At my friend's cremation - my friend do not wish to have a preist to bless him in the church but outside. The preist respect his wish and bless him outside of the church. We stayed outside at cold weather for over one hour with priest to say goodbye to him before they took him to cremation. I know my friend do not like church and said that church with statues are fake... outside is natural because God is outside, not in the church and because God never say about church. This is his view. :dunno2:

Now my both hands improve much better then I am able to type and write Xmas cards and prepare the gifts... I know it's delay but it's better than nothing...

Oh gosh!!! I'm so sorry you're suffering with burn hands. I'll pray for your speedy recovery.

Also I'm sorry to hear about your friend's passed away. I just had two girlfriends from Chicago area who were 48 and 54 yrs old passed away within last month due to cancer too. That's too young. RIP them and your friend.

In meantime you mentioned "cremation" that you went to. Do you mean by "funeral" ???

Does Flecky using jump to your shoulder before?

:ty:

cremation = burnt corpse by fire.

funeral = burial

Yes, Flecky like to jump to my and my family's shoulder for sat on between both shoulder and neck. Flecky loves it. She slept on between shoulder and neck... her face next my right side of face and her tail next my left side of face... I walk around with Flecky around my neck and shoulder.

I wasn't realized that Flecky jump onto my shoulder when she KNOW I was in stress... normally she often jump when she see I do nothing or quiet...

Yes I know the words cremation and funeral but we don't attend for cremation. We (in USA) would attend for wake and funeral that was it. That's why I'm puzzled when you said you attend for cremation.

Ohhh okay usually when Flecky see you're relaxing but somehow he/she jumped to your shoulder but happened to be in kitchen by an ancident. Oh boyeeeee. He/she wants cookieeeeee!

There's cremation in USA as well, it's based on American's choice to pick cremation or funeral, in case if they know them.

It was just like bulky machine to burn human's body into ashes, varies of families want put ashes into urn.

Liebling, I'm sorry about what happen on your good friend, cancer seems tough to fight, some types of cancers can be successfully disappear after fight.

Yes, ofc we do have cremation here but she was saying she went to cremation. I'm puzzling if that mean cremation service as funeral service? Funeral service can be for either coffin or urn not to a place where they cremate a body. Undy?

Yup, there's cremation at some funeral home.

Sunshine1, Pacman is correct.

It doesn't mean that we went to funeral or cremation when we attend the same church. When it says cremation which means is cremation because he wanted it.

Example:

Anyone who want to be bury then call it funeral because they want it. The annonncement press on the newspaper to tell us which church we will attend and let us know which funeral or cremation...

We attended my sister's cremation last May 2006. It didn't written "funeral" but cremation.

:ty: Pacman & Angel

Yes I know cancer is a terrible word.

Jeez!!! Glad you re okay from burn hands! Ouch!

Sorry about your friend...

Interesting >>outside is natural because God is outside, not in the church and because God never say about church. This is his view.

Your welcome...

My post looks little mistake, I was usually call burial or cremation since funeral is just for widely, mainly looks like ceremony when people visit and start something like that.

Oh dear .... either you misundertood me or I didn't explain clearly. I know about cremation. Yes some funeral home do have cremation there. I'm talking about the "service" where people attend to. Perhaps she could say she attended to a funeral home instead cremation? I had my son cremated. I had his ash in an arn. We had a funeral mass at church and also a funeral service at the cemetry where we buried him in grave site where my family and friends attended to. There is no such as cremation service.

Oh no Liebling Poor you. Hope, your hands are recovery 100% before Christmas ! I know, what the burn on the skin feels like. I had a scar on my left arm from the oven because I tried to get big pan somehow my arm lost balance to hold the pan and hit the oven top. I should wear a long oven mittens. I used the towel, what idiot I was.

My younger son's friend had a car accident on icy road, he was in icu since Friday. He passed away on Monday morning, he is only 17 years old. It was horrible for the family and my son grief. It was too emotional for everyone. We called out from work last Tuesday.

Hang in there !

Kalista

Look at #14, I was correcting my post.

Oh really? Well I never seen newspaper using the word cremation. Just wake, mass and/or funeral in USA. Perhaps Germany is different way of saying comparing what we are saying?
