Hi I'm a newbie
Hi,
My name is Jenny from Nebraska. I am 28, hard of hearing... I went to mainstreamed school from the time I was in second grade to when I graduated HS in 1996. I was also at a public university for 6 1/2 years to get my degree in elementary education. I am now in the process of applying to the University of Missouri-Columbia to get into their library sciences program. It's going to be a practical degree so I can work in the libraries.
Anyway, I have one brother who is 27. My mom died while I was in HS so I had to grow up fast. I live on my own and looking for work. I am going back to the company that laid me off in April. My job was moderator, so I will change it back once I actually have the job.
I know ASL and familiar with most Deaf culture things. When I was going to college I wanted to be a deaf educator. Though that dream is gone... I am educating in other ways just not in the classroom. I was born hard of hearing, however, there is deafness on my dad's side of the family.
That's all I can say for now. I write pretty well since I am between both worlds and can go easily from one to the other. Though my receptive for ASL needs improvement!!! I draw blanks because I'm not around a lot of signing people as I used to be.
Jenny
