Mayflower and I renewed our wedding vows yesterday at a small but really beautiful ceremony. The ceremony was held in the backyard of Mayflower’s employer’s home. There were about 50 people attending, including my relatives—many of whom I haven’t seen in several years. Also attending were many of Mayflower’s friends from school and previous coworkers. One of our friends, who is ordained, performed the ceremony. I’ll post some more later about the ceremony, and some pictures when they are developed. Right now we’re driving up to Santa Barbara for a one day second honeymoon. :) :cuddle:
 
Our vows (with the names changed):

Mr. Chimp to Mrs. Chimp:

From this day on, I choose you, my beloved Mayflower, to be my wife. To live with you and to laugh with you; to stand by your side, and to sleep in your arms. To be joy to your heart, and to be food for your soul—to bring out the best in you always, and for you, to be the best that I can. I promise to laugh with you in good times, to struggle with you in bad times, and to solace you when you are downhearted. To wipe your tears with my hands, to comfort you with my body; and to mirror you with my soul. To share with you all my riches and honors, to play with you as much as I can until we grow old, and to love you, sweetly and gladly, until the close of our days.

Mrs. Chimp to Mr. Chimp:

I Mayflower, choose you Mr. Monkey as my best friend, my love for life. I promise you my deepest love, my fullest devotion, my tenderest care, through the pressures of the present and the uncertainties of the future, I promise to be faithful to you. I promise to love you, to commit to you, and support you. I pledge to respect your unique talents and abilities, to lend you strength for all of your dreams. You have shown me what love feels like and for that I thank you. You are everything I need and at this moment I know all of my prayers have been answered and that all of my dreams have come true. I praise God for you Mr. Monkey: for all of your love and constant friendship. I know that our love is heaven sent and I promise to be here forever and always. From this day forward, you shall not walk alone. My heart will be your shelter and my arms will be your home. As I have given you my hand to hold, I give you my life to keep.

Congratulations and that's really nifty and wonderful that you both renewed your wedding vows! The cake looks quite 'fitting' and 'proper' and looks delicious too--

This calls for this thread to be 'sticky' for the time being.... ;)

I was there too... Wish I could meet you both, but we were soo busy going to the wedding we did went to the beach too. ;)

Well, I was wondering if anybody was going to ask me about that. You must be wondering why we renewed our vows less than a year after we got married. It actually has nothing to do with the memory spans of chimps. You see, after we eloped to Las Vegas we came home to discover that everybody and their dog was pissed at us for eloping. All of Mayflower's girlfriends thought that she was "cheated" out of a "real wedding" and demanded that we put on a show for them. So Mayflower’s boss insisted that we have a "real wedding" in her backyard. I was none too thrilled about the idea, but I went along with it for Mayflower’s sake. I was dragged into it kicking and screaming, but in the end I thought it was one of the most special days I had ever had. The party was great, everybody had a good time, and the ceremony was actually quite beautiful. I guess we should all listen more often when the estrogen does the talking. After the reception we all stayed up until midnight getting drunk and talking, and then we curled up on the outdoor sofa in the backyard and fell asleep to an almost full moon with a fire smoldering in the fire pit. It was almost magical. I almost want to get divorced so I can do it again. :mrgreen:

BTW, I’m still working on the pictures—stay tuned.

Were you at the pier? Did you see the veteran’s memorial with all the crosses set up on the beach?

Eh? I don't remember seeing that on the beach.
