The rain fell softly as protesters marched through the streets of downtown Seattle yesterday, yelling, chanting and singing to demand an end to the war in Iraq .

Some shouted, "Peace! Now!" while others screamed, "More money for jobs and education, not for war and occupation!"

Police estimated more than 500 protesters participated in the march and rally sponsored by Not in Our Name, a national peace organization.

The demonstration was peaceful, and there were no arrests. The protesters were escorted by about 20 police officers on bicycles.

Smart people. *thumbsup* Education and jobs, that's what we want. But unfortunately that certain people does not want jobs or educations, they want the war, oil, gay marriage ban and moral values. I wonder how can moral values feed our hungry stomachs? Now that is interesting. Hmm.

Why do you assume that just because people support certain causes or beliefs that they are mutually exclusive of other causes and beliefs? I support America's war on terror AND education AND jobs. I believe we can have moral values AND feed the hungry. In fact, I believe moral people are very concerned about the welfare of others. It is the immoral or amoral people (such as the leaders of North Korea and Cuba) that don't care about people. Why should they?

It's interesting that you try to "demonize" Castro of Cuba. The Cuban citizens are doing fine in spite of our eternal embargoes, thank you. Or are you trying to hint that Cuba ought to be on our "hit list?"

The Cuban citizens are doing awful. How many Cuban immigrants do you know personally? Well, I do know them, and they are not "doing fine" over there.

Good grief, I am not "hinting" anything. Do you see a conspiracy in everything?

Nope. Do you?
I have known a few Cubans personally, yes, from my travels to other countries, and they LOVE their country. Much in the same way we love ours. We got into some spirited discussions and I always leave with the impression that we ought not to believe everything our media preaches to us about that country. MOST of the Cubans I talked with respect Castro and appreciate the positive things he has done for them, and a few revere him the way you apparently revere Bush. They are just people. People are people.
