Please keep anything off-topic out of here. If you must discuss off-topic use PM. Thank you...

I am working with a new VR since my case was closed for awhile. Anyway, I don't want to go into details, but I don't know what it is. If it's me or what, but sometimes the VR counselor seem to want to be controlling in what types of education you should get plus your direction.

The counselor seems nice (met once), but when I start to read between the lines I get this grrr feeling inside like I feel somewhat led to do what they want. I don't know if it's old memory from other counselors, but it seems that maybe every counselor has something that will make you feel controlled somewhat.

I need their help. I wish I knew better how to communicate with them to not treat me like I need to do what they say every time. I don't want to change counselors because it seems they are all the same in this part.

Well, VR counselors are trained to guide you toward jobs and educational fields that they think you would be successful in. But, this is just supposed to be guidance. JUst be assertive in expressing your own view to them if you disagree.

Thanks. I will have to remember those words to be assertive.

Vampyrox,

You said that the first year you got 50% of your school paid, and then your counselor paid everything after you proved your hard work. I am wondering, did you initiate to work out a compromise with the counselor or did they counselor told you to do well, then they would see if your education was worth paying off completely? I don't know if it's worth working out a compromise with them or let them decide what they want.
