Hi, I am the Activities Director @ Oradell Health Care Center in Oradell, NJ. I am a hearing person and curently have a deaf resident living in the facility. She is a lovely person who worked as a sign language teacher. I persoanlly feel inadequate in trying to meet her needs for socialization and recreation. She does have a supportive family who visits, but she could really use some extra company. Is anyone out there interested in being a Volunteer? If so, please contact me @ ydecordova@oradellhcc. com. I look forward to hearing from you.

That is very nice of you to try to find someone to volunteer to provide company for a resident there. I hope you are succussful in finding someone.

Hi. I am from Tinton Falls, NJ. I have a lot of deaf friends here in NJ. Some of them my old high school classmates, other I met them through college, and through friends. I have checked the town name Oradell, NJ on Google's map and it's like 1 hour and 15 minutes away from where I live.

:welcome: to AllDeaf forum. Me, too. I am from Ontario, Canada. As for you and your friend that is staying at the facility, I hope you enjoy reading and posting all the threads here. You will find lots of topics about deafness, Deaf Culture, Deaf Communities, and most of all ASL instead of Oral only 24/7. You will be able to help your friend with special needs for the Deaf. Just have fun with us. See you around.
