I recalled that I read Postal news regarding about experimenting LLV (Long Life Vehicle) using vegetable oil in engine crankcase in place of regular engine oil. The company tests 10 or 20 LLVs and they said if engine get damaged, they'll pay for new engine on each LLVs. That was about 5 years ago or more. I wanted to know what's the result. I haven't heard of it ever since! So I did google search and can't find it. I am not sure if I'm searching with correct keyword.

Anyone know about it??

Nope, I don't know about that and I haven't heard anything about that before.

old news they been atr it for years, even now theres a crime epidemic, in USA thieves stealing cooking oil wastes from resturents
and abroad as well

i have seen website showing how to extract those oil making it to be Fuel,, but using lyre, (extremely dangerous shit)

last I heard.... they used to use vegetable oil in aircraft brakes,(yea they used too..) but later changed to mineral oil / and later skydrol..which they still use today,....diesels can run vegetable oil as fuel no problems... but I think vegetable oil is too thin to be used cool / lubricate bearing and high pressure surfaces like crankshafts...

I'm talking about putting fresh and pure vegtable oil (bought from grocery store) in engine crankcase, not burning it as fuel.

You may be right about veggie oil may be too thin to be used for crankcase.

I guess that company that experiment the LLVs may have ran into embarrassment that many LLVs engine got damaged and lost money to engine replacement and don't want it publicized  They should have publicize it to let public know what's the result. This may help other to develop better idea instead of keeping us in dark.

I wonder about bearings such as brass, nickle, steel, or magnesuim compatible with vegatable oil that can be used for crankcase? Wonder if there are thicker veggie oil which have similiar consisicity of 5W30 to 5W50 engine oil? It would be environmentally friendly just to dump old veggie oil into street or recycle it as a fuel.

Just wonder :hmm:

We wouldn't be able to just dump it because there would be some fuel mixed in with the oil from slipping past the rings. Also some exhaust does end up in the crankcase too since the crankcase is not airtight.

That is why they get black from use and replace oil in cars every so many miles.

True, forgot about it.

What if supposed they run Hydrogen instead of gasoline  probably different perspective in dumping it to environment.

I know Ethanhol is like gasoline that can get oil dirty anyway. Better burn it as fuel instead of dumping it.

There was an article in the newspaper about something like that and how people have to get a special permit to build their engines to adapt to using vegetable oil as fuel. The reason for the special permit is for tax purposes since people using vegetable oil would avoid paying the gas tax.

So, the story was that a few people got caught driving with this modified engine without the special permit and got fined.

One guy made an agreement with a Chinese restaurant to pick up their used vegetable oil saving the restaurant $$ in hauling fees.

I will see if I can find it online...

That's very interesting. I don't know how cop figure it out and fined them for driving with modified engine. Perhap cops smell french fries from exhaust and making him hungry. Sound like they are living in one strict state.

In State of Kansas, they don't care cuz it's mostly rural and some cities. Same goes for Missouri. I have read article about guy modified their diesel engine to run veggie oil. They did not need permit at all. If I modified the engine to run Hydrogen. I wouldn't report that to state transportation dept about it. Cuz it's just engine that runs the car. No one will know it. It's none of their biz. Because gasoline is currently a majority and alternative fuel is a minority (which are very small). I know one of my co worker drives electric vehicle to work every day.

Lol about smelling french fries in the air..anyways, the reason for the fines cuz without getting the special permit, the motorists are avoiding paying the gasoline taxes while were implemented to pay the costs of maintaining the highways. If they aren't paying the taxes and using the highways that regular fuel users paid for, then it isn't fair.

I don't know if that's a federal or state law. MD has strict laws that's for sure!

True. But remmy there's millions of cars in the country. Alternative fueled car make up just small percentage. So it like microscopic blip in Tax radar.

As long as you just simply keep it quiet if you built an electric or hydrogen powered car. You won't get caught even pulled over for speeding too. Cops won't even notice anything. Avoid Biofuel at all cost
