Using ASL to discuss CS

I really liked her video, she addressed one specific topic and did it very well. Personally I am an advocate of ASL and cued speech. I think it is most helpful for speech therapists and deaf students of foreign languages. Both ASL and cueing have good uses within the Deaf community, and I think cueing is helpful for some people while ASL is helpful for others. Cuers should not ignore ASL, and signers should not ignore cueing. :)

Etoile - Would you be so kind as to expand on this:
deaf students of foreign languages.
I am presuming you mean deaf students who do not use ASL and using cueing to aquire English? Or??

Thanks. :)

Sorry I was not clear. I meant a student in American schools who want to learn a foreign language. If they have a CLT in their Spanish class, they can learn how to pronounce Spanish instead of just how to read/write it. I know they will be using Cued American English instead of Cued Spanish, but this is how many American kids learn anyway...that's why Americans have an accent when they speak another language. :)

If a deaf student wishes to learn Spanish, their CLT would be cueing the phonemes of Spanish, presuming that the class is being taught in spoken Spanish. The CLT does not need to know Spanish, only the system for the phonemes. As far as the accent goes, I am of the opinion that the deaf student, barring personal nuances, would speak however it has been cued to them.

Are we on the same page here? :)
