AP - A man trying to board a Los Angeles-bound flight was arrested after an eight-inch dagger was found inside one of his shoes.

Vincent P Rosso was stopped at Newark Liberty International Airport on Monday when a federal screener told his supervisor that Rosso appeared to be concealing a dagger in either his coat or sneakers.

The dagger was detected when the items went through an X-ray machine, said Tony Ciavolella, a Port Authority spokesman.

The weapon was found in a cavity in the sole of Rosso's left sneaker during a subsequent inspection.

Rosso, 25, was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon. He posted $US10,000 ($A14,600) bail and was released.

Officials do not believe Rosso has any terrorist links, but the FBI is reviewing the case.

JEEZ another weapon on the shoe issue JEEZ doesn't poeple get it , dont carry things u don't wanna be arrested for if ur soo hell bent on that dagger going on the plane for a reason then simple get a licence to carry notify the airport and let them know u have this permission and etc, BUT don t make it look like ur a terriorst or ur NOT going to be getting in ANY plane much less out of the state!

I reckon it's because some people get off on daring to do something as outrageous as that guy who brought on a dagger in his shoe.
Australia's had 2 epsiodes of 2 men getting onto the plane with a gun and another a bomb implanted in his shoes.

RE: deafscuba's response, the cash outlay, to the best of my knowledge, for posting bail is 10% of the amount of the bail.....

Oh Geez... that man thinks he wouldn't get caught but opps he got caught!!!!! Some people can be so stupid when they don't think twice or that they think they wouldn't get caught!!!! :rolls:
