US Attorney says heroin overdoses a public health crisis

Heroin is also a problem here in Indy. Last week, 4 IMPD swat team were shot when they were serving a warrant. Fortunately, they weren't killed.

What I find amusing is that, The US Attorney says heroin overdose is a public health crisis. Well, yeah, everyone knows heroin overdose can be deadly. Heroin has been around for a while. It's not news. The reason, in my opinion, why it is a public health crisis is because there has been a rise of using naloxone. It comes in the form of a nasal spray capable of reversing an opioid overdose. There's a need to make fund to supply naloxone.

Naloxone....... I've heard of this stuff. Strong stuff, and should be strictly regulated like cough syrup is for meth.

Heroin is a problem in every city, it's just that most people are ignorant about the size of the problem....but this is really old news.

Laura

It may be old, but I don't know if it's been posted before or not. :dunno:

they been taking opiates since ancient Greece....IF person pain bad enough then they need it that chance you take with any medication but I would imagine more people died today from asprin and paracetamol than heroin
they use to have phenacodin parties back in 19th centuary many died from that...people knew consquences but still did it precursor paracetamol
I take opiates myself for pain, my life be intolerable without it..
naloxone been used for years

I used to take Flonase for nasal spray. Only problem was, it affected me pretty good, so when my prescription for it expired, I did not have it renewed. Also stopped taking my allergy meds, too, as well. Life since doing that has improved a LOT.

No, it's not. The side effects was because I was also taking allergy meds at the same time, and after I quit both cold turkey (They were prescribed drugs, and no, I did not abuse them, having never gotten the prescriptions for them)I noticed a huge difference in how I did things.

Yes, they were the main chemical used to refine into meth, very dangerous drug. Stay away from that. I would NEVER touch these shit because I witness the effect on somebody who using them.

I will NEVER use meth. Cough syrup? Haven't had to use that in a few good years now. I prefer the old-fashioned remedies, which work, and not need cough syrup.

The heroin users. Their choices. If they want to die or get help either way, their choice.

If deaf people use drugs, so? They want to be equal to the hearing users.

We did this when I was still working in the pharmacy. People would steal boxes and boxes of Sudafed brand and generic. If someone came in and bought a lot of boxes we had staff sneak out and get their license plate number to report to the police. Then it all got moved behind the counter. Now if you buy Sudafed you have to sign for it and show your ID.

Pseudoephedrine....Sudafed, is a sinus relief medication. Unfortunately it can be used to make Meth.
A lot of cold meds have this drug in them too.

I thought only cough syrup had the ingredients to do that. I just learned something interesting.
