Do you think you always must to have upgrade?

For example, there is Photoshop 7.0 and you current have 6.0 or 5.0

well in my own belief. Yes u have to upgrade even though some program are not really neccessary. Some programs are. Photoshop 7.0 to 6.0 or 5.0 are not really neccessary to be upgraded. those versions are just some updating tutorials or some new things, but not a major change. It only depend on what program u're lookin for.. I would always upgrade on which program I have. It's better safe for me to be in the current version instead of the behind ones.

Nah... I don't think that upgrades are important. I have Photoshop 6.0 and am satisfied with it. My girlfriend has 7.0 and I don't really notice much difference except for some of the design of the layout. Other than that, it's pretty much the same. I'd rather keep my version until they come out with something that has A LOT of new changes and additions.

Depends on situation for programs. Unless if it's a window update...I must always update it.

Money wise...it'll depend on security (I don't really rely on graphic programs but more computer system tools) and also bugfixes.

Most of programs have ChangeLog which you could read to see what new features and what bugs were fixed.

That's why I love opensource. There's been few open source programs that has enabled new features which I didn't want in my program but I would read the ChangeLog and see what bugs were fixed then look thru the source of the old version and change according. Then compile it...it would be fixed and doesn't have those features that I dislike. :D

Behold the power of freedom.

Expect on Photoshop 7.0 that can only running on Mac OS X. I seem need to get all programs to running in OS X native than rather doing in Classic which waste my time. :(

I am struck with QuarkXPress 4.0 when there is 6.0 - argh! It has most improve in feature after I miss 5.0 and more new features in 6.0. I feel like I am lose behind.

Comeon, when I own Windows 98 and found about 98SE (second edition) for only $20 bucks which is legal that I brought direct from Mircosoft dot com. It become worst, it cause running much slow and everything screw up. :mad2:

Window ME is not much help and I dislike about how DOS running. It's bad. If I own PCs. I would stick with standard Win 98 with SE.
