Hi everyone,
I'm back. I saw my audi on Wednesday at which time I was given a series of hearing tests. I was given the standard beep test, was tested for sentences in quiet and sentences in noise. First my right CI was tested, then my left.
I received 100% for sentences with my right CI and 89% with my left. I'm quite pleased about this because I thought the percentage for my left CI would be significantly less.
As for my audiogram, I'm not hearing high frequencies as well as I used to, but my CI audi said that's what she and my CI surgeon expected since 12 electrodes were turned off. She also explained that the reason I'm able to hear high frequencies still is because the electrodes that were turned off were re-allocated to the middle and low frequency electrodes.
My CI audi would like to see me back in a month to check for any dizziness as well as how well I'm hearing. She suggested that we start to turn on more electrodes, but I asked if we could leave everything as it was since I'm pleased with the way I'm hearing. She said this was fine as long as I could hear well.
This whole experience has been a mixed blessing in disguise. On the one hand, I didn't like experiencing dizziness, but if it had not happened in the first place, I would not have had the opportunity to receive better maps.
I'm definitely a happy camper.
