Has anyone worn Unitron hearing aids? What are they like? The audiologist's assistance mentioned the other day that Unitron was working on making an extremely powerful hearing aid, even more powerful than Phonak's Naida, which of course has me curious and interested. I haven't done any research yet, have been busy getting to know my new dog better. :)

Uniton and Phonak are two brands owned by Sonova. As far as power aids go I am not sure much room is there to increase power since the cochlea can only handle so much raw power before distorting everthing.

I wore Uniton for 14 years. I love them. I don't know if powerful, but they hold up well to daily life. I also got great service when they had to be repaired.

When I got Unitron 14 years ago they were the cutting edge of technology with programable aids. So I saw try them out.

I have pair of Uniton (analouges) (just had them for few weeks) and they are so much better than all the hearing aids i had even the digitals, they are powerful enough for me to enable to hear little bit of enviromental sounds and voices But not powerful enough for me hence having CI operation on wednesday (eek!!). They were provided to me by the cochlear implant team as temporary use while i wait for CI as none of national health hearing aids were doing any job also as the National health won't provide them and the waiting list is 24 months with some luck that i would get them. My deafness is 120 plus in left and 100 in right if you get the idea.
They do have shorter battery life than digs, i think approx every 5-7 days.

I wear 2 Unitron Element 16. I have not worn any others. I used to like the dampening effect on loud noises. But since my hearing is continuing to fade, it kicks in too easily and makes it more difficult to understand. Batteries last one week.
