Do you ever need to have a HA test to make sure everything's going okay with your HA? Or do you only need to go to the HA audiology only if theres a problem with it? How do you know if you need a new hearing aid?(apart from if you think your hearing's gotten worse?)

In my experience I've only ever been to the audiology clinic when I have a problem with my HAs or think my hearing has got worse. I've never yet been called in for a check up or anything, however they sometimes ask me when I've been in for repairs whether my HAs are still helping as much or whether they are loud enough.
When I had analogues I didn't need to go for years and when I eventually did they couldn't find my notes! Typical NHS!!! Maybe thats why they didn't bother to contact me!

As we said the other day I actually have no idea! When I was at school two people used to come in every 2 weeks from the hospital to check everybody's' hearing aids. Though from what I could see it was basically cleaning moulds and making them whistle!
I went in as I thought my hearing was worse- it was, a little, but the main thing is one of my aids just isn't as clear and loud as the other, and it used to be. Have to live with it til I get the new ones. Given that I was told their aids had improved in 3 years, and told to come back for a new pair, it might be worth going at least to say you feel that you're not hearing as well as you used to (if that is the case).
They used to say come in every 3 months for a checkup but I kept forgetting and I'm terribly lazy, so I didn't go for months- only once to get new slim tubes, as I can get batteries from a health centre in town for free. At said checkups they would ask me how I was hearing, was I having any problems, and connect me to the computer and make things beep and add/remove programs if I asked.
I suppose it depends if you're having problems- and I thought maybe I just wasn't cleaning it enough, or I'd bent the tube- and was told I shouldn't even have slimtubes but normal moulds so no wonder I'm missing things.
Also depends if it's a long trip for you to go to the hospital. It's 20 minutes on the bus for me so not bad at all. Since you are thinking about another CI (do you mind me saying that on here?) I can assume that you want the maximum hearing you can get, so it might be worth making sure everything's working properly.

When I was at school they were really on the ball regarding my hearing. Had regular hearing tests and Teacher of the Deaf used to check our HAs and hand out batteries every week. When you become an adult they don't bother as much, I suppose they think you're old enough to sort things out for yourself if needs be.
I also have one aid that is clearer and louder than the other, when I asked them about it they said that due to the nature of my hearing loss they would never be able to get it as good as the other. I guess it's something you just have to live with.
