Assisted suicide is allowed in Oregon and I think another state .
Uggie, the famous Jack Russell Terrier from "The Artist" ... has gone to the big doghouse in the sky -- after bravely battling a prostate tumor.

If theres a death penalty in your state then there should be assisted suicides too. But you should go to court to get judges approval why you want to die.

While I see what you are saying.... I would actually l like for assisted susiside to be allowed on some level... but having the courts in it... I do not like... let it stay between the doctor and the patient...
I agree , keep the court out of it , it would be very hard on the person , they may not be able to get out of bed if they want assisted suicide .
I had clients that were bedbound and there would had been no way for them to do all the paper work and get to court and this would be too hard on the family too. There is no needs to get the court involved that would made be become public and it's no one business but the family and doctors.
Unfortunately even if you want to 'keep the courts out of it' some families will still go to court to block assisted suicide if they feel their family member is not of sound mind (when quite possibly they are). Kind of like what happened with the Teri Schiavo case.
But having to have a judge's/court's approval is overkill (sorry bad choice of words but.. I'm tired).
Poor Uggie , his thread got hijack about assisted suicide ,
It happens... threads develop a life of their own many times... I don't think it was hijacked it just happened that it became a jumping off point for another discussion- nothing wrong with that.Poor Uggie , his thread got hijack about assisted suicide ,
