GLEN SAINT MARY, Fla. -- A Baker County family of farmers is shocked after their cow gave birth to a two-headed calf.

The calf's name is Annabel and she was born Monday in the middle of a field on the Crews family farm.

Carolyn Crews says she comes out to feed the two-headed calf at least four times a day.

"It was just like a surprise because no one has even seen anything like this around here," said Crews.

Or really anywhere, for that matter. A birth like this happens every one in 400 million times.

Annabel has four eyes, two mouths, two noses and two ears and two heads.

"I don't think it was meant to be for something like this to live. You know, I don't think she's going to make it," said Crews.

She says they've reached out to a veterinarian, but the doctor said there is nothing he can do.

"She might have pneumonia...I mean there is no telling," said Crews.

Her heavy breaths are worrisome and her head is too heavy for her body. She cannot walk, which means she cannot feed from mother. However, she is unique, something the Crews family and many in Baker county say they won't forget.

"I never dreamed of such a thing happening. It'll be something that we probably never seen in our lifetime," said Crews.

I'm not a doctor, but I think the calf has Diprosopus (aka craniofacial duplication), it's really sad, most die in the womb. There have even been some infants born with this condition, most live only a few weeks, tops

The calf cannot walk, 2 heads are too heavy...so feel this calf will eventually die. The Vet said there was nothing he could do.

Is this a rare sight only in Baker County? Is it a common sight in all other counties?

:hmm:

young indian girl with something similar..people in her village say she blessed and reincarnation of some diety...not sure but think Grummer posted it....
OH come back Grum sure you learnt lesson

I feel sorry for the calf with two heads. I think the calfs are blind as there is no reflection (moving eyelids). This is really very rare on this condition. It is a good question if there were any other animals with two heads (all in one head). :(

I know a snake that has it on tv..one head trys to eat other head so devider put between heads at meal times

It was a long time ago, bit I remember reading about a few calves over time that has been born with two faces and one head, most did not make it for very long. I have also read about one that was born with two complete bodies on one head, but if memory serves correctly it was still born. Two complete, or mostly complete heads is more common...
