My name is Christopher Eaton and I have joined this forum in search of assistance to further a non-profit foundation that I created in 2008. I am the father of a Deaf child and in 2008 I decided to start searching through programs to see what I could find available for Deaf children with regards to money for college. After extensive searching, I discovered that programs exist for virtually everyone EXCEPT Deaf children. Once I got over the immediate anger, I decided to call the United States Department of Education directly and was astounded, as you may be, to be told that ASL is not even recognized by the DOE as an official language in the U.S!!!! Ever since I began The Sophia's Tiny Hands Education Foundation, I have had to lay virtually dormant due to the fact that I have not been able to secure any funding for the venture. The purpose of the foundation is quite simple. I firmly believe that every child in this world should have the opportunity to experience a college education as well as everything else in this world. I created TSTHEF to raise money in the hopes of granting scholarships to Deaf children that could not afford the costs of college. As a father of five, I want nothing but the best for my children. As a person, I want the best for all children, regardless of their abilities to hear. They are not disabled, they are just a little bit different. My post today is to ask for anyone on the forum that may have any suggestions or contacts to please contact me by email at christophere2000@comcast.net. I used to have a Website and email for the foundation, but I had to close them due to a lack of funding. TSTHEF is a 501(c)(3) public charity and has an active registration with the Internal Revenue Service. I have permission from the IRS to be the only paid employee of TSTHEF, at least until I have enough raised to hire an assistant. Currently, my full-time job does not allow me the time to go out and raise the money. I am a college graduate with a B.A. in Psychology and I will have a M.S. in Economic Crime Management in May of 2010. In addition, I am a Certified Fraud Examiner. I truly believe that I have 2 purposes in life. First, I am here to be a great father who loves his children more than life itself. Second, I am here to help others that are not able to help themselves and provide the less fortunate with financial help. Please help me with any information you can.

Again, if you have any information on grants, loans, investors, donors, etc., please email me at:

Christophere2000@comcast.net

Thank you.

VR? Quite a few resources out there really.

I have tried to find resources and they all end up giving their money away to the universities.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!! You are awesome!!! Do you have an email address to where I can personally stay in contact with you? I am tired of not being able to help the one group of children that the U.S. Government could care less about. I have Board members that are instructors at the Maryland School for the Deaf and one of the members of the Board is the Deaf actress from Sesame Street, Linda Bove. If I can get TSTHEF funded, I can work for the foundation 60-80 hours a week and devote 100% of my time to granting scholarships.
